My guess is you're refering to the 240w Blackstar, but that seems like a bit much for a 26"w x18"d x30"h cab, at least from what I've read. Allowing 6" or so for the height of the pot, and at least 6" of space between the tops and the light we're left with roughly 18" of grow space. 240? Perhaps in a larger cab...

Anyone else? Feel free to weigh in.

Hey Joey, the 90w is made of 1 watt diodes and that's not too good for flowering IMHO. Maybe the 135w or 180w might be a better choice for you. And you really should consider LSTing your plants to increase your harvest and maximize your grow space's height. Happy Growing!

No you want the blackstar 240w. Trust me, more is better and for your size cab that UFO will be too small and you're not gonna get much off those plants in yield. In fact if you wanted maximum yield I would recommend 2 x 240ws for that space :) If you don't care about yields you can stay with one :)

It's the same issue with HID - yes a smaller light will cover the plants in light, but they're gonna make smaller buds the smaller the wattage. LED is no different. Also keep in mind your output depends on your power draw. The 240ws pull 135-145w electricity those UFOs pull less than they are rated too not sure how much less I think the UFOs are a bit closer to their actual wattage. You can't get something out of nothing -- light output is going to depend on electrical energy that goes in. Less energy draw = less energy output to plants. That's why you have to factor in the power draw on LEDs.

If you do go the UFO route, at least get 2 if you want to cover that cab.

the 240 will have to wait, unfortunately. the 90 is in the works plus there's a 4x24" t5 fixture in the build also. (sorry for not being pure led, gotta make do with what's there...probably should've posted in the micro-cab forum)

the tops will be cut once, maybe twice, when the time seems right. keep 'em small but bushy. bagseed... decent stuff, but nothing to rock on over. finding a good strain will be hit or miss. personally i like sativa over indica...but i've seen how sativa's like to get big. anyway depending on what happens with this experiment, a 240 could find it's way into the mix. pics to come...

Well hopefully it will do what you need it to :) Doesn't matter to me if you use something other than LED too. I'm not a purist I'm a do what works for you person.
