Constitutional Amendment To End Marihuana Prohibition In Michigan

A Petition to amend the Michigan Constitution, Article 1, to add:
Article 1 Section 28. Repeal of Marihuana Prohibition.

For persons who are at least 21 years of age who are not incarcerated, marihuana acquisition, cultivation, manufacture, sale, delivery, transfer, transportation, possession, ingestion, presence in or on the body, religious, medical, industrial, agricultural, commercial or personal use, or possession or use of paraphernalia shall not be prohibited, abridged or penalized in any manner, nor subject to civil forfeiture; provided that no person shall be permitted to operate an aircraft, motor vehicle, motorboat, ORV, snowmobile, train, or other heavy or dangerous equipment or machinery while impaired by marihuana.

This is what is going to be proposed. a lil to open to things like well thers a lot. This could have been written much better.

Here ppl you can contact in your area to find the exact residence of their petition. Please help with this. The more we accomplish statehood wise the better the chance Federal prohibition will hopefully follow soon there after.

Here is a list by county with info on how to contact that person maintaining the pet.

Can you say naive? Selling pot has put money in my pocket since LBJ was in office. Why should I give that away?
Also, do you think it is smart to give your name to a public forum advocating an illegal act?

Thirty years ago I was in a California head shop buying a pound of mannitol. They had a clipboard on the counter
with a petition to legalize pot for people to sign. I couldn't believe folks were dumb enough to sign it, but there was
a dozen names on the list. Three of the names I recognized were part of a large drug sweep that came down a few weeks
later. Stupid.

Yep... Just ask people to e-mail senators or folks like that, and write intelligable letters perhaps... This is what we are doing down South to try to get our medical bills considered more and hopefully passed before we die. It still seems like a potential trap though, so I almost dont know what else to do, except just vote for folks like Ron Paul, who will get it all sorted out for us if elected... If u r growing, I'd probably steer away from the limelight of petitions andthe like, but at the same time, what else can we do to try to get bills pushed through and passed?

The petitions are at stores. You have to contact them to confirm they still have the petition. There isn't a way to sign it on the web.

What exactly would you be giving away, bigsteve? If you're afraid to sign a petition you need to grow a pair. I'm sick of people feeding into the hype that signing a petition is going to get you busted. The only way we're going to get cannabis legal right now is this process: collect 360,000 sigs to get the bill on the Nov. ballot and vote for it. If the reason you don't want cannabis prohibition lifted is to keep your prices high, then don't post negative bullshit on a thread that's trying to help our cause.

I'll answer that.

I live in an area that is economically depressed. We have twice the national unemployment rate and exist in a resort area
that no longer draws the tourists as before. You would probably call us poor white trash. I'm speaking for all the 40-60
year old guys who have been selling pot for eons. If it wasn't for pot sales many fine folks around me would be digging through
dumpsters or worse. As much as 40% of the disposable income for me and my crew comes from pot sales. Threaten that and you
will have a fight on your hands.

How old are you Kountdown? I've been smoking/selling pot for close to 50 years. I've seen you starry-eyed kids trying to change the world.
I reported facts as I know them to be. I saw acquaintances arrested because they signed a petition in a San Jose, Cal. headshop. Have you
given even a minutes thought into what the scene would be like with legalization? Anything as lucrative as pot sales will gather all sorts of
federal and state regulations and taxes. I repeat -- legalizing pot would financially hurt many of mine. So stay out of my pocket, agitator. Go
back to your Obama campaign support and leave us hard-working Americans alone.

The only people that aren't in favor of legalization are the profiteers and the ignorant. I see where you stand bigsteve and all I can do is try to stop the spread of ignorance. Signing a petition cannot get you arrested. It is still legal to voice your opinion in the United States. If you're a registered voter in MICHIGAN, you can sign the petition without fear of getting arrested.

Oh that list of phone numbers are the store owners number. You call them to find out where there store is and then you go and sign it. We seriously need ppl to sign this. I think we have until the end of July to aquire 310,000. It personally don't see that happening but if your in the area pls just sign it. Maybe if the word gets out enough, eh nvm. If you can just sign it.

Well, I put up a plea for the South, akin to this post, and *BUDS was real quick to tell me "Wrong section, bro..." So, I guess it's ok for everyone else to voice the occaisional political activism thread, unless you happen to be doing it for the Southern U.S. Imo go to the politics section and see if anuyone there gives two shits... None of this will happen without more medical states in the first place... So, don't forget about the states who don't even have a med bill, and are in total prohibition zones... Check out my 1st response on "Can I get a little help from my friends?" Really encouraging...

Nice post Steve.

You have to realize the MI MMJ people, just go to any of their "farmers markets" you will think you are in a crack house. People who look like they hadn't showered for days, brushed their teeth since puberty etc.. and they are trying to sell you medicine?! I mean I wouldn't use one of these people's lighters let alone try their dried up tweed they are peddling to the mindless.

It's different then the Cali scene, MI people are mad, resentful, mindless and will follow any idiot who speaks up with some half educated thoughts no matter how misguided they are. Just enter the MI forum here, and see all the hate, drama and idiots who try to act righteous and legal. Although they are the ones busted, harassed and going backward like any state legalizing MMJ.

You know why, the morons supporting legalization are the same dumb @!*&@ who are bending, breaking and trying to squeeze every dollar out of patients, crops, plants and laws. Give an inch they took 3 feet, and want more. Sad but until they realize they are there worst enemy, it will never be legalized in my life time, sad but I am smart enough to see it with this current Algonquin round table of supporters.
