My First Ever Grow And It's With An AG

You can transplant but you don't want to damage roots when you do (ie don't let the grow too big). You're probabyly too late Homer

first off this whole recessing thing sounds pointless and completely without benefit for the problem (stretching). Stretching occurs b/c of too little light/ light too far from the plant. This recessing sounds unneccessary and quiet harmful to the little girls (well, hopefully girls).

mmm...I wanna smoke some now...:joint::peace:

well going with the idea that the AG has been an experiment and what not, i'll say so is the "recessing" .

if it works fine if not would not be the first time i killed a set of plants.

anyhow, from what i have seen(when i am not over nuting and burning the shit out of them) is that from recessing i can leave the light lower longer and when they start to grow toward the light they start to develop their second nodes.

i did this to maintain short bushy plants, and if i can use the right stuff, and keep my fingers out of it and let it grow i think i'll be good.

my biggest one ( as ratty as it looks right now0 has 4 nodes and is only about 3 inches tall. here is a picture of it next to my pocket utility tool. one side is a ruler from 1-3.5 inches or so.

glad to see another having good luck with it. i'll get it , just need more patience.

oh, had i started with clones the stretching would have been less of a problem and recessing not needed probably.

Well I just went and recessed mine. I had originally planted seeds germinated on a wet paper towel in the dark...did not tear the grow sponges in half. Just poked a hole in the bottom with a toothpick and tried to poke the little sperm looking tail through the hole. Noticed today some had grown into the side of the sponges and had apparently quit growing. None of the seeds or plants seem in a very effective condition. I will split the sponges next time from the start. Also didnt notice any good place to run the airstone hose through the back so it still in the front.

Bigwheel: I never germinated my seeds just popped em into the sponge and didn't tear them and they sprouted just fine without an air hose. I would reccomend tearing though becuz mine like yours grew out in all ways a few grew straight down though. I plan on adding the air pump later though.

AG420: thanks man what you doing now?

that too. when i looked at mine it had seemed like the very bootom of the root got thin and tiny as the stalk was considerably fatter in comparison. i recessed them so the small skinny rot extension would work its way easier, and they did.

the air stone was the greatest thing i got. check my pics or gallery.

i use these mini aquarium stones on a four bank setup. small super quiet air pump. it runs all the time and i cannot hear it till i open the cab.

also i run two stones on longer hose towards the back and two on short near the front. have just hung mine in the front.

p.s. if they already started, just tear the foam in half and put seed back in. i have pulled a few roots out of the side of the foam and reset them and they grew. i was doing fine until i used wrong nutes. so far all my strange "recessing" techniques have not inhibited growth.

and this too, first i originally cut foam with clean razor blade, but just recently tore it in half equally with ease and used it. so go for it.

Thanks for the info. Took a peak this morn and looks like the tops is nice and green but since the recess manuver most are below the little paper disc thing of course. Got a couple which I think are dead. Guess I keep on fiddling with it. Can't wait to harvest them habs..yum yum.

Ok here's another update. The good news is that they're growing well, but the bad news is that a few of them have something wrong with their leaves. Any tips or suggestions would be much appreciated.

dont get discouraged, mine did the exact same thing, they seemed to work it out themselves. I was only using the given nutes, Id say try to see whats what with your nutes, im going to switch to fox farm when i can locate some, theres none around here.

and CO2 is a great idea, made a huge difference to em when they sleep. check out my thread on it.

That's a little relieving I'll buy some CO2 mix tonight and head to my neighborhood hydro store for new nutes tomorrow.

Ok CO2 is mixed but I couldn't securely tape it to the wall soooooo I came up with something myself. I cut a hole in the lid of my water bottle and fed some plastic tubing into it and taped the other end upwards on the garden. I'll post morning pics tomorrow.

It's been 2 weeks since sprouts and all plants have about 6 nodes so I flushed my garden and added ph balanced water with Foxfarm Tiger Bloom nutes. Hopefully this works for me if not it will yeild as a warning to all other growers. Wish me luck.

If you guys want to see what the AG can do check out my journal. The link is below my signature. I am taking clones off of my mothers this week end to get ready to start flowering.

Two mighty fine looking grows there fellas. Looking good. So far my AG has sprung up one normal looking healthy plant about 2" tall. Some of the others look real green down in their grow holes but they aint making much progress. Went back and reseeded about 4 vacant holes. Aint having much luck with the thang. Sorta puzzling. Glad its working good for yall.

YongHova,

what is the date from planting on those last pics?

These are mine at close to 3 weeks. There was some slight nute burn, but there are a few plants that look pretty healthy. I am using 1 AG nute tab (to balance PH and stabalize water) and 1/4 Fox Farm schedule. That would be a 1/2 normal nute sched. I havent tried epson salt though. Maybe they need magnesium?

Also, i transplanted a healthier plant from dirt to the AG to replace the really scrawny guy in the back. Its been 3 days since then and it seems to be healthy still. Are these really small for 3 weeks ?
