I use a combo of chicken wire fence and coyote piss. keeps rodents and deer at bay for me
What, the chicken wire keeps away the rodents? Chicken wire seems so auspicious, so I was thinking fishing line. Also, there will be way too many plots for chicken wire around every one. And, where can I get coyote piss?

6 plants could a pretty big garden. Space them out
6 plants, pretty big? That's just a plot. There will be several dozen plots in total :D

Thanks to all the people here who actually READ my POSTS before going "ugh you dumb noob". But seriously thanks for the advice, keep er comin. I'm getting a GPS later this week so I can start planning the plot locations. I have about 50 seedlings right now and today I'm really busy building a grow tent to keep em healthy til planting time.

I'm also starting a guerilla mission of my own this spring! I'm in jersey, and the last frost isn't until April 15th. I havn't got my seeds yet, but its not that big of a deal that i havn't started yet right? I figured I have atleast a little less than a month. I'm planning on growing Papaya (One of my fav strains =) I could use some advice on what kinda nutes and stuff. Feel free to give me some input

Are you using any kind of nutrients or ferts? if so how often do you use em? I've tried outdoor once before but failed due to mold. any tips?

chicken wire for the rodents and the coyote piss for the bigger animals. coyote piss is available at hunting and camping supply stores. there pretty expensive (10 bucksCAN for 30 ml bottle) but it only takes a lil bit. I bring a bottle with me every visit I make and try to empty it before heading back

that is good to know ... ok so now what about deer repellent? can it be watered once every 2 weeks?...and nutes every 2 weeks?
what was said about having to water all the time if you use bags or buckets is true, it isolates growing medium from actual ground causing it to dry up 5 times faster than normal.

As per deer I have grown for the last 8 years or so and I only use piss!!! I start pissing in bottles around the end of april,, then very liberally dump it around my plots( away from root system) This will take care of deer completely. As far as slugs and small bugs that crawl, get large jugs of vaseline and coat the first 6-10 inches of your main stalk, along with any tie downs leading to branches. From the first post you put about "teams of people going to take care of your "BIG TIME OPERATION" I knew you were a know nothing who will grow nothing. peace to those who arent stupid as hell and cheers to a new year almost upon us , get your clones ready folks.

Wowee! You are one pretentious little dick, aren't you? One team of three people who LIVE WITH ME. Refer to the first post on this page, okay?; I already took care of shitting on your retort. And, for the record, I would use the word "big time operation" because I've never grown more than a dozen or so plants at a time. Smoke a joint, cranky-pants. If I sound excited it's because I'm young and excited, if you're too jaded to keep up with me then fuck off.
As for the part where you weren't being an asshole, using your own piss works? Veeery interesting. I will try this out as I have neither the budget, time, n'or willpower for collecting and distributing coyote piss. How often would I be rubbing vaseline along the stems, by the way? I don't want to have to go out very often.

I"m growing outdoors in Southern Ontario too. We are putting in 200 plants(all clones) in 20 patches of 10. I have grown with 2 partners(wilderness survival types) for years. This year 1 of them is dropping out so it's just a 2 way split. We grow in swampy clearings in the bush where the plants self water as much as possible.3'X3'X3' holes with spagnum, cougar piss for deer repellant(they are a real problem around our sites) .Good luck.

Thanks very much, I may be referring my self to you in the future, if that works for you. This cabrón above mentioned that using your own piss works, do you know anything about that? Also, sphagnum... hmm... so that would be pretty much the same as dropping in a plant that's been grown, up to that point, in Miracle Grow soil-less mix, right? Or, wrong?

try and find a swampy area and grow on highland so you dont have to water at all....
That's the idea, I'm trying to fit as many as possible at the edges of swamps. But, what do you mean "on highland"?

for creepy crawlys use cedar wood chips choped up into a saw dust form ,, sprinkle that all over the top of ur soil ,,, get a piece of tin foil 1 inch wide & 4 inches long ,, wrap it tight around the very bottem of ut main stalk....as for deer ,, i just use my own pee , or boyfriends pee,,, & i always put cigarett butts all over around my grow ,,, not noticible ,, place them under a leaf on teh ground ,, or wedge it between 2 sticks on a tree ... ,,, another thing that works well is ,, amonia packs , have u ever see em .?? they are about 2 inches long & round as a pencil ,,,, they dont smell until ur break it ,,, they are used for ppl if u get knocked out ,, they wave that under ur nose & u will wake right up ,, so iv herd ,, they do stink BAD ,, but break 1 open & place it by ur grow ,, it will smell for about 2 weeks

Thanks a lot Miss Mandy. How often should I add more piss? Deer totally infest this area.
Also, what do the ammonia & cigarette butts deter?
Finally, do I do the cedar wood chips AND the foil? Or, just one or the other? I'm sorta confused on that 1.
Thanks again there, very helpful.

jimmyspaz recommended I put in 3X3X3 foot holes filled with sphagnum for this outdoor op. It sounds promising, but how much is sphagnum? I want to know that it's within my budget before getting it, because I need to plant several hundred plants.

i put pee everytime i visit my site , & well the foil & cedar i always use both ... i dont know exactly what it does , but i have never had any bug infestations .. besides a few nibbles here & there , nothing major .. the ammonia frikin stinks bad ,, & the ciggy butts ,, not sure BUT i remember when i was little , my grandpa used to take me squirrel hunting & we would hunt those squirrles from his deer blind , nice setup he had on the ground ,, & everytime we went out there he got PISSED , he says ,... [ them damm assholes were back again , cigarett butts all over the dam place) .... then he got into telling me about the smell of them linger for a long time ,, & when deer season opened , no deer ... not even with his bait pile 20 feet away ... so he used to make me pick up as many butts as i could see & put them in a bag & take them far away .... so now i am putting them all around my grow ,,,, ... if u plan on planting several hundred plants ,, then u must be in a secure location , besides deer ... just tie rope or twine around the whole op ,, start at 1 foot , go up to 8 feet high ,,, keep rope far from plants , so deer cant just stick their face thru & start munching ur shyt

Take a coyote out for a few brews, and you can get all you want for the price of a pitcher of beer.

OK, OK, seriously... I get predator urine at Fleet Farm. It's cheap there. I don't know where you live, but if you have one close by you should check it out.

As for chicken wire... an alternative solution, sort of a compromise, might be to build small chicken wire cages just for the seedlings. Some people just do it that way. A foot tall, or two feet tall, just big enough to protect them until they get big enough to survive a few nibbles here and there. And you're right, it can sort of stand out, but I've heard of people who just spray paint it black. They swear by it. Say it's a lot, lot harder to spot black chicken wire than it is shiny chicken wire. Which sort of makes sense, really. I think.

I think he means plant on the high ground right next to swamps or humps of high ground in the middle of swamps. That's what i do. The water table is close to the surface, so once the tap root gets down a couple of feet the plants never run out of water, but you don't have to worry about drowning them.
