Not understanding bud formation. looking for answers

Hey guys, my plants have pistils formations growing all over, the pistils are turning reddish which i think means they are maturing but im not sure.

Im not understanding where the buds are though. Are the pistils the buds and as they turn red form the buds?

Are the pistils covering the buds up? I mean are the buds under the pistil formations?

Or has the plant simply not produced the buds yet? If not , how long after the pistil puff things show up and make tips do the buds show up?

if you're referring to little pom-pom looking jobs with white pistils...
yup em are buds
they'll stack and swell and oh dear
if it's just a couple of hairs at your stem,,, well, no - em ain't buds

Thats what i have , the pistils look like long buds and they are starting to all clump together, i just was curious if those were the buds or the buds were under the pom pom things

Yes, i know that now. I had just got my HPS and was worried/paranoid about it exploding so i just did 12/12 to test it out lol

well, i could be wrong, but i think you could just switch it to 18/6, it'll reveg and have more time to build a decent root system, therefore=bigger yield :) it'll be way more worth your time

i start off 12/12 most of the time and always have a good root system so where is this logic from ? if you don't want them to huge keep them on 12/12 because even with 12/12 they get big as hell, they just flower quicker. op you'll soon see the buds forming and will definitely be able to tell when they're there

a lot of people use 12/12 when they have height/size restrictions. it works, just keeps em small. they still have a few weeks of veg, since they aren't mature enough to start showing signs of sex. do you have any pics?
