fuck the refund just get the new ballast they where gonna send you and run the shit out of it. i like magnetic dont get me wrong but when it comes to light output digital ballast are just slightly better. you should just keep a backup and still run digitals IMO
Na i'm sticking to magnetic now just because i haven't had any incidences with them, no more digi's. I want my dough back

Ya If they only want to replace the broken one, i'm going to be selling it for sure.
If you can't get Lumatek to refund the money but they are giving you a brand new ballast then at worse you should be able to get a store credit from the hydro shop you bought it at. If you are like me you can use that store credit up in no time. Just a thought.

Mines been going for 4 years and no issue.

So because a fuse blew that means they suck.

Now that is a pretty stupid way of looking at things.

So no other company will blow a fuse huh!!!!

Sweet, glad yours works. i think they suck because i can't just change a fuse, I have to return it and get a new one. No need to call anyone's thinking stupid, this isn't an elementary school playground.

Should have had the hydro shop you bought it from swap it out.

Yeah if i wanted a new lumatek, then that's what i would have done. I posted earlier that i'm not going to be running digi ballasts anymore because of faults and safety issues

my lumateks have been running 24/7 for several years now. I have dusted them off once or twice & currently dusty.

ive heard some good things about phantom, but i also heard good stuff about lumatek. If i ever do go back to digital, i'll be sure to do some extra homework

iphones break sometimes. brand new samsung tv's go out sometimes. my stoopid C.A.P fuzzy logic got sent back 3 times. i could go on and on.
sounds liek you need to invest in a back up ballast or something. i would buy another light before letting them sit with 1 less light for weeks.

oh yeah there is no way i would let them sit that long. I have other lights in my room, only one burnt out. Instead of buying a back up, I just bought a magnetic ballast that i can fix myself if something goes wrong, but i've never had any trouble with these so I doubt anything will go wrong. But who knows? It never hurts to be ready.

Well I have 5 Lumatek 600 watt electronic ballasts. Bought 5 to add to my room for a total of 10 ballasts, 5 Phantoms and 5 Lumatek's. Im the middle of my first cycle and one Lumatek just died. I'm professionally wired and running them all at 220. The 5 Lumteck's run very hot compared to my 5 Phantom's . Been trying to deal with Lumatek for 3 days now and getting the fracken run around. Hey I live in Chico and they are about a 3 hr drive from me. If these assholes don't return calls or emails and warranty this piece of crap I'm driving it down there and throw the paper weight thru their fucking window. I'm tired of buying expensive shit all made in China that isn't worth a bowl of rice.

Lumateks are known for 300% THD.
I wouldn't waste a quality lamp like a hortilux running a shitty ballast.

I had a 400watt lumatek that went out a couple months back. Went to the hydro store with my receipt and got a replacement and was home setting it up in 20 minutes. Was worth paying $300 for a ballast to have no issues with returns or companies.

Have hydrostar pro 2 now, they don't carry lumatek at my store anymore. Says if this one fails he'll replace it for free too so that's sweet.

This hydrostar runs way cooler probably close to half as hot.

Are you fukin kidding me , 300% harmonic distortion wtf .!

The THD numbers alone say the ballast isnt a well thought out design & suggest non optimal operation .

Any neighbors in the area using antenna tv would be fuked ,a loose connection of a cable wire would draw the cable company running to the home , not something a guy on the down low needs .

Ive been buying HTG over 10 yrs so i had no idea those ballasts were that shitty .

Op , take the replacement ballast & sell it off as a refund isnt likely from what im reading here , no reason to hate on digitals though , i too was a die hard magnetic ballast user for 20 yrs , i replaced my magnetics 10 at a whack & am glad i did cause it cut my cooling costs in half & give me more light per watt consumed .

Yes sir, they were certified with a lamp manufacturer that I can't remember who.
But on this lamp manfacturers website were all the listings of ballasts and lumatek looked pretty poor. Next thing I knew they lumatek were no longer certifying with that lamp company and the info was taken down.
