dehumidifiers

I bought one at home depot last year for about $250. Works great, haven't had an issue with it (yet).

My room is about 16x14 with 10 foot ceilings, and it handles it with ease. It's an LG.

Any hardware appliance store, about $250 like stow says and be prepared to deal with some extra heat. Dehuey is the biggest heat violator in my set up, I consider it worse than my NG co2 gen.

50 pints so 25 quarts and I failed to mention taking the co2 in to consideration in the respect of the amount of water vapor it puts out increasing the workload for the DH.

I would just use a small air conditioner. Dehumidifiers and a.c. do the same thing, just a.c. does it without the heat.

My mini-split has a moisture comfort setting, but I still find my DH running, so IMO it's not keeping up. I'm staying between 40-50 rH

I run a Soleus 70 pint I bought at Menards for around $240 with tax in my basement that's around 2000 cubic feet. It works great. It's Energy Star but still is rated at 850 watts. The good news is it doesn't need to run constantly to keep my RH at 50%. You need to connect it to a hose and drain or you're going to be dumping the reservoir bucket often as it's not very big.

The heat coming off doesn't affect my temps greatly because there isn't that much of it and it remains relatively cool in my basement. I'll let you know how it works when its 100 degrees outside in mid summer but before I got the thing I had moisture collecting and dripping off my cold water pipes as well as mold growth on my walls and floors.

Doesn't the dehumidifier use much less power though? (I do not know, that is what I thought)
The a.c. would use a little more for a the second fan. I don't like the heat they produce in summer. The hotter the air is the more moisture it can hold.
The humidity was up to 70% tonight so I'm running my dehumidifier tonight, too warm for the gas heater and too cold for the a.c. in this basement.
I never had a split unit but only run the dehumidifier a few weeks per year.

Can I mount a dehumidifier in the wall of my room to keep the heat outside the room similar to a window ac unit? 2 x 4 wall construction.

I mean keeping the hot side of the DH on the outside of the wall with the face of the unit protruding just into the room.
