pistils are the preflowers for the female plants. They are what will turn into the buds. buds are what have the most thc on them, but im not sure if the pistils actually carry the thc. i think that a plant produces thc to protect itself from sun and wind and stuff. its made by the plant, which then puts it on the buds when they are maturing. its kinda like on a fruit plant, you get a flower (the pistil) then that turns into an actual fruit (the bud). hope that helps!hey i was wondering what pistils are? i know that they look like but what do they do? do they carry thc?
oh i got ya now...ok i know what buds are but i must have used the wrong terminology because i meant when the buds are already formed there are these fat white squiggly hairs growing out of it. what are those called and what do they do??
(oh and thanks for the reply)
Yes they do.Just in lower concentration than the trichs themselves. The leaves, even stems carry SOME amount of thc, if only trace amounts.no...no not at all. i know what trichomes are. and yea kaosowner is right that the pistils are there for receiving pollen, what my question is, is do they carry thc???
that is what they r forI believe those white hairs/ pistils are there to catch pollen.
pistols in the pot world are just the 2 or more white hairs that come out of the calyxs, in regular plant terms a pistols are the wholre visible reproductivve organs in plants the, as we refer to them pistols, and the male pollen sacks.
but since cannabis is a plant which has both male and female plants somewear along the line it became popular to refer to the pistols as pistols.
the pistols job is to collect pollen, once a grain of pollen gets stuck to the hair about 30 minutes later the grain of polen will sprout a root almost that fertilizes the pistols, sending some shit down it into the calyx where a seed will then start growing.

I've been spending a decent amount of time latly looking at my plants nder a microscope, and it looks like the pistols are loded with trychroms, just not stalked trichroms, I forget what their called, its the other kind of glandular trichrom with almost no stalk.
of course their not as many as on the calyxes but theres aquite a few
I read somewhere that thc is what the plant uses to form the seed shell. This is why seedy weed isn't as strong as seedless. That being said though I have had some seedy stuff that kicked my ass.Just makes me wonder how good it could have been without seeds???pistils are the preflowers for the female plants.
