Reed what I typed - there are dozens of places that will cash a check for a FEE - which is what you said you were happy to do.

Bucky has mental issues. He wouldn't have this problem if he voted in Ron Paul. The government would give him gold and not a check. Then all he would need to do is go to any one of those thousand and one gold trading businesses in his area.

Banks make money from holding your money and investing it... If you have no money with them they cannot do this - they actually pay you monthly if you do this though (I'm assuming you've never had a savings account). You are telling us that you are a "customer" that pays the bank NOTHING, they earn NOTHING from you, but they owe you... How does that work?
i'm a customer that they pay nothing and purely profit from. i pay my credit card bill every month, which includes interest.

i'd be happy to pay the $5 to cash a check, too. but they refuse to recognize the check from the fed gov, oddly. they had no problem cashing it when it was a multi billion dollar bailout.

So in my local area I have the following that will cash a check for a fee:

Ace Cash Express
Cash One
California Check Cashing Store
Money Mart
Check Into Cash
TeleCheck
Rmf Consulting
B4Payday
Check Max Plus
Cash1
Check Max Plus
....

There are less than 4 banks in the are that will not cash a check without a checking account... You're mad because you don't have enough options?

that's funny, i log into wellsfargo.com every month to pay my credit card.
Seriously? I logged into ebay to buy my grow gear, I guess all of my money went to ebay right? The only thing wellsfargo is reimbursed for is customer service only relating to your credit card... those fees and %'s go to Visa.

i thought you said free, not for a fee.

i'll promise to read better next time if you promise to use loose and lose correctly.

do your lights say ebay on them? my credit card says wellsfargo on it.

it was my first ever credit card, too. i started it as a prepaid card when i was 17. i gave them $300, they gave me the card to use. after a year of establishing my credit, they mailed me back the $300 and let me use the card as an actual credit card.

they've made plenty of money off me and that card by now, and they could have had $5 of my money if they cashed my check, but they refused because i won't sign up for their ripoff checking account. so walmart will get $3 from me instead.

seems like a dumb move by the bank to turn down my money because they want to rip me off harder.

Let me summarize this - you think the bank is dumb because they are going to lose money from you by ripping you off? How can they both lose out on money and rip you off at the same time?

Why not just endorse the check to your wife? Or you don't even trust those sneaky jews either?

that was the first thing i thought to do, apparently you can't do that anymore or at least in this case. why can't everyone be like me and just keep cash in coffee jars? so much more simple.

they would have had $5 and i would have had my check cashed and gone to home depot for building materials.

but because i refuse to sign up for their ripoff checking account which i closed last year because it is a ripoff, they have $0 and i have to drive over to walmart now.

it's pretty simple dude.

And what about their checking account is a rip off? You need to keep at least $100 in it at all time? You know it's free right?

So they just lost out on possible earnings. They didn't lose money and rip you off. You're now mad that the bank that you hate lost money?

Don't you think that if the $5 was worth it to them that they would have different policies?

i remember it was something like $1500 to avoid the $10 monthly "service" fee.

i kept on asking what service they were providing, they couldn't tell me. so i made them refund all the fees and close the account, as i was entitled to do (they changed the terms of the account AFTER i signed up for it).
