Look at you all talking about 9mm`s being weak. I fired a 7.65mm Llama and the bullets looked like a joke. The sound was like cracking almonds with a hammer. The bullet holes on the sliding iron door didn`t look like a joke!!

I know a couple people that got lit up with 9mm's and were good.Ran to the store and ace bandaged there ass up and went out looking for who hit them.None were hit in vital organs or major arteries though,a .22,9 or whatever can kill you just as easy as a .45 if you get hit in certain spots.

You really cant go wrong with either though.....You got the larger round capacity for the 9mm's and the stopping power with the .45.If 9mm wasn't effective most law enforcement wouldn't carry them.

A bit of military history ... the 9mm Parabellum was one of the cartridges designed prior to WW1 (like the varied .30s, e.g. 7.62mm Luger and Mauser) whose purpose was not to kill, but to maim. A badly wounded soldier used up way more valuable resources than a dead one. Modern controlled-expansion/penetration ammo upgrades the 9mm from an excellent wounder to a marginal stopper. cn

More bullets requires a larger firearm and much heavier to conceal and carry. You'll get a chance to fire one if you're lucky in a confrontation. A man can run at you over 30 ft before you can draw a concealed weapon and fire a single round, and hes on you, and now you're on the ground fighting for your life.

Smaller, high caliber weapons like the S&W .40 M&P model is perfect. Small, 11 rounds, and deadly. A nice hammerless revolver with .357 would be really nice, it's next on my buy list. Quite a big loud bang right there, make you piss your pants.

Sorry people in other countries, this is how most of the US rolls.......

One of the most powerful handguns is a 7.62x25mm TOKAREV. It shouldn't even be in the same category as 9mm, its based on the 7.62x39mm. These rounds penetrate modern combat helmets in a single shot. Not even the .44mag can claim that.
