What are they being germinated in? One thing that is easy is to buy rapid rooters, the spongy (sp?) kind, not the dirt ones. Cut them in half heigth wise, and then split them down the middle. Gently open the rooter, then put the tall sprout inside it. It will keep them straight, and they'll root right out of the old stem. Then put your light a little closer.
Some just stretch, I have an 8 bulb t5 that I use, nice and close, and some strains just stretch, but that's my secret. No more lost seedlings with this method.
