Can exhaust fans be turned off during 12 hour dark period?

I live in a house that is only 5 feet from my next door neighbors house. I'm in the flowering stage now. The 250 watt HPS comes on at 8:00 pm and turns off at 8:00am. Figured it was better to have the light on at night for less of a chance to be noticed. Can the exhaust fan be turned off also at this time? Trying to keep the mailman and meter reader from smelling the Pineapple Chunk. Very skunky smell. Or does the exhaust fan ALWAYS need to be on. Just wondering. Thank folks.

Well since smell is the main concern for you I would assume you need to be filtering/exhausting all that smelly air constantly.

I agree. Just my second grow and last year I lived out in the country and had no worries. Thanks guys.
