You are a mis guided man. The super rich should indeed be taxed at a much higher rate, as should huge companies. All you guys want roads to drive on, free health care, clean water piped to your home...but feel it should be free..how is any infrastructure paid for without taxes? Reganomics didn't work..wealth doesn't trickle down..
Mis guided WTF? What a joke...

Why because they are successful? Get off your ass and make your own quit trying to sponge of somebody else's success. Sure we all want the stuff you mention but a lot of Americans have an entitlement mentality that because some company or individual has a lot of money they should be paying more for the things we all enjoy. I see no logic in that way of thinking at all. Like I said above get off you ass quit your crying about he's has more than I do so he should give me some of what he worked his ass off for... That is some fucked up Marxist thinking! Go make your own!

I'm not talking about stealing anything. I'm talking about what's fair.

Would you agree that if a person making $60,000 a year is paying 30% in federal taxes, someone making $25,000,000 a year should also pay 30% in federal taxes no matter the source of their income?

How is that not fair? If that's not fair, then I apparently missed that day of school where the definition of fair was explained to the class.
What in life is fair? Go back and reread what I wrote he has paid the 35% once, why in hell would you expect him me or you to pay twice? Mr Obama is trying to fool you again and your falling for it. I'm sure Mr Romney or any other person that is well off worked there ass off to make that money. Get out bust your ass and you too can become rich then when some little bitch like Obama comes along and wants to tax the shit outta you what are you gonna say? I would hope you have the stones to tell him to fuck off I know I would.

Like I said to Mr Harris get off your ass quit you crying about what somebody else has.. I have been self employed for over 25 years I get sick of people wanting a job they come to work but do not know how to work. Then they want me to pay them a so call'ed living wage no body has ever paid me that I have earned it! That is the trouble with todays society thinking they deserve it not earned it.

You apparently missed a few days of school too.

I guess you have no idea what "capital gains" taxes are, eh?

I'll break it down for you:

You invest money in to a stock, mutual fund, etc. The PRINCIPAL amount that you invested has been taxed, and will not be taxed again as income. The INTEREST that you earn from that investment is called capital gains income. THAT income is only being taxed at 15%, and because the vast majority of Mitts income was via capital gains, his effective tax rate for that year was 15.4%. The overwhelming majority of wealthy people derive most of their income from capital gains. It's why the game is rigged. It's why most executives take stock options as opposed to cash .... because they will pay a fraction in taxes as opposed to ordinary income.

So no, that income wasn't already taxed. You have no clue what you're talking about.

This is one fucked up state. Moved here twenty plus years ago and would love to move out but can't sell my house. Rick Snyder and his cronies should be removed from office and prosecuted.

I have worked my since I was sixteen years old. I am a disabled veteran. Nobody has given me anything. I'll be damned if I will endorse these fucks who throw away everything my brothers, sisters and I have personally suffered for...Democracy and freedom. These assholes may have been voted into office but they can be removed too.

Please believe I'm not trying to take sides in your argument, but what you fail to mention here is the risk involved with investing the (already taxed) principal. If the company invested in goes bankrupt the investors loose that principal. Capital Gains tax being lower is an incentive to investors, if you raise that tax, the investor has less to gain and therefore would be less likely to invest that money in the amreican economy and more likely to take their money elsewhere. ~ http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/04/16/us-usa-citizen-renounce-idUSBRE83F0UF20120416

Personally I agree that reguardless of HOW you earn your income, if you are making millions you should pay more or at least the same rate. However this whole debate is rediculous and a means to divide the voters. The result of changing the capital income tax to 30% would not generate enough in a year to cover government spending of one day. The media has been pretty good lately at trying to divide this great country of ours and most are giving in to thier game.

This country is need need of a revolution, the people need to stand up to the government and DEMAND the rights giving to us by our forefathers.

In response to the vid where in 2007 mitt said he was against medical marijuana, I'm sure the right amount of donations to his campaign could change his mind, seems that's all it takes for most politicians. Unfortunately, big pharma, alcohol, tobbaco, oil and many other big players are the real enemies.

Sammy, you do raise a good point. I will concede that there is risk for the *average* investor .... but people making millions a year are not your average joe. Great deals have a tendency to fall on the laps of wealthy folks. Call it what you want, but if you have money it's very easy to make more through investments.

Your other point is spot on as well. Unless our government is willing to make some cuts, increased revenue of this sort will not close the gap. I would start with cuts to our ridiculously bloated military budget. We call it "national defense", but in reality it's just a big scam to line the pockets of already wealthy people.

I take issue with the republican line of "the rich already pay all the taxes blah blah blah". A simple google search will verify that for the last 30+ years, the rich are getting more and more, and the rest of us are left with their crumbs. The trickle down theory that the right has been peddling is a farce! Tax cuts for the rich only serves the rich. It pads their bank account, not ours. When so few people have so much power/influence, it can become a dangerous thing. Look at our political system. If you have the money, you have the power to influence policy at the highest levels. I want the guy I voted for doing the decision making .... not some rich oil tycoon in Texas with boat loads of cash to hand out!

P.S

An investor can make investments in to any publicly traded company on the planet. So, while I understand your thinking, I disagree that investments necessarily *help* the American economy.

Humans are the only species on the planet that don't obey a fundamental law of nature. Take only what you need to live and nothing more. A plant or tree doesn't take all the nutrients from the soil so that others can't grow. A tiger doesn't kill all of the gazelles, just what it needs to survive. There was a time in human history where tribes hunted together and shared the meat with everyone including the very young and old.

Now what we have is people who hoard the "meat" and take far more than what they need. It is a very sad aspect of the human condition that one percent of the population controls 99 percent of the wealth.

Why do a few people have more than they will ever need and at the same time many people die of hunger daily across the planet?

This is not a national political issue. Its a global human Issue.

Really? I thought it was because I worked harder and invested more wisely....so it didn't have anything to do with working 18 hrs a day most of my life...funny, I thought that was how I got where I am.
that's great that you have acquired what you did in your life and I for one don't care what you have or don't have. Just remember one thing, you wouldn't have those big bucks if it wasn't for the woefully underpaid military that allows you to work all of those hours and make your great big stash of money. They are working 24 hours a day and recieve no extra pay. so enjoy your stack and think of how you really got it!!

Financial wealth is the bottom of the wealth ladder sorry to inform you. Money does not make an honest man honest.

Just our Capitalistic Society has most believing monetary wealth is the only one that matters...
NO, money doesn't make an honest man honest, it makes them go into politics!
