I've thought this was the weirdest shit ever since I was a kid, who THE FUCK can' swim?!

You live on a planet with 75% water, why THE FUCK haven't you learned to swim yet?!

Your ass has no excuse.

Tell me why you haven't learned to swim yet?! I find it inconceivable! Whhhhhyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!?!

that had been my reaction the other day. There was a sotry about black kids in america, basically that none of em can swim, 1 guy got into trouble in a river, 5 or 6 others jumped in to help, all of em drowned. None of the parents at the scene went into help because they couldn't swim either. Sure a river is a little (i don't think we are taking rapids and waterfalls in this story) different to a pool, but every one of em???? :/

My personal thoughts, well all i have to do is breath in and i am basically of neutral boyancy, if i move my legs even just a little bit i can then float and move around. How do people drown! I'd say must be as said, in their head, and then tey start pannicking or something. Seems unreal though.

Um...isn't that a drowning hazard?

Yeah, panicking is my guess too...I remember floating on my back for hours in the pool/ocean as a kid...Granted your neutral buoyancy is easier to accomplish in saltwater, but I'm pretty sure I floated down a few creeks floating on my back too...

lol, they stay in the shallow end....
My advice? Life insurance policies and lots of drunken backyard BBQ's/late night swim sessions

No, thats horrible...she's not your in-law, is she? ;)

I'm just kidding, maybe you should get one of those baby/dog fences to put around the pool...lol

Swimming/floating seems easy as shit! You just sit there, with a little bit of air inside your body! I think drowning occurs, more often than not, because people don't understand air inside their body will make em' float! ROFL!!

Current's n shit are another story completely, but drowning on your own because you can't swim has to be humiliating on top of embarrassing...

Swimming seems like the easiest thing you can learn... what's easier?

Sit there n die, sure.

Drowning = die because you're too stupid to live. WORTH IT!!! LOL!
this is funny, I just read a post on a Saltwater Reef forum about a suicidal hermit crab who climed out of the tank and dried up...He used the same exact phrasing. "...too stupid to live."

Well, yeah, people panic in water when they can't swim, hyperventilate and either swallow a ton of water or pass out and drown. It's sad, I had a friend who drowned in a lake when he was 17...But I do believe he was heavily intoxicated. And hell no, I wasn't there or that shit wouldn't have gone down like that...
