well my plant is 12 days old and has 6 leaves in total but 4 true leaves...2 nodes i believe.. it still does not have a top. when can i expect it to grow one. what if it doesnt ever grow one?
i mean a top so i can top the plant to get 2 main colas..what do you mean a top? a new set of leaves is a top in my book. if your talking about a bud, your gonna have to wait till 12/12. take a pic so we know what your talking about.
dont have to top to get more than once the main branch, one they get big enough you could just tie them to grow horizontally with a pipe cleaner. i put anchors in my pots so i can tie them easier, growing them to grow around the pot is also good. if you only want a few main colas, cut off any emerging branches or take clones, whatever branch(s) you have left will be an additional cola. more branches means the nutrients and energy are gonna be more spread out, whatever branch is closest to the light will get the most of the energy.i mean a top so i can top the plant to get 2 main colas..
wait whyd you ask then?lol nevermind.. i know what a top is and i know how to do it. i know what im talking about so you just may not understand me..
when i look at a tutorial on topping, i always see a plant with a TOP. the piece of plant that sticks out above all the leaves/branches.. my plant does not have that and i basicly wanted to know if it just did not grow one yet..this is my first grow but i know what i see on youtube and i know what my plant has.. red0021 made it seem like i didnt even know what i was talking about..wait whyd you ask then?
exactly, can take off 3-5 days off veg cycle. rather train it.They realy start shooting out here between week 4 and 5. And are robust enough to handle the cut then, allthough it does stunt growth for a bit.
post a pic itd help a ton.when i look at a tutorial on topping, i always see a plant with a TOP. the piece of plant that sticks out above all the leaves/branches.. my plant does not have that and i basicly wanted to know if it just did not grow one yet..this is my first grow but i know what i see on youtube and i know what my plant has.. red0021 made it seem like i didnt even know what i was talking about..
You can't blame me if no one can follow wtf you're trying to say. Frankly, you sound like you don't know what you're talking about (still).red0021 made it seem like i didnt even know what i was talking about..
I still don't know what he is talking about. It seems like he thinks the plant is going to put out some sort of structure that will always be at the top of the pant, instead of growing new growth on the top like every other plant known to man. I am pretty sure once the plant gets 5 true nodes you cut back to the 3rd true node to get 2 or 4 main colas. I did this on my first outdoor grow. I have pics in that post if you want to go look at what i did. It does cause the plant to bush out, but you harvest more which is the point.
not entirely true, more leaves/more roots cause bigger yields but topping wont increase any yield. makes you have to clip more for light penetration to the inner branches, and makes the plant focus on lots of separate growth, spreading around the energy. bushiness can also contribute to chances of mold, if youve got a giant cluster of leaves and they're wet thats a target. save yourself some clipping, LST for the win, and less hand cramps when harvest comes along. It does cause the plant to bush out, but you harvest more which is the point.
