Sea Of Green! (SOG)

Right guys, i've gotten the whole idea about sea of green, but i'm a little unsure as to which size pots to use for this method. I'm growing in soil, hopeing to fit 8(or 10?) plants under a 600w dual spectrum hps.

Remembering that plants don't really build roots when flowering, and the fact they will only be vegged for 3 weeks,(im topping at the 2nd week).

Should i start them off in big pots (11 litre pots to save space), considering im using root riot plugs and all the above?

Instead of starting them off in 1 and a half litre pots like i usually do.......I don't see the point in re-potting before i flower when they wont use that extra room as much as they would in veg.

Are these going to be in a tent with a square footage limit?

It would be good to know what strain you're using, too.

I'm going to start a SOG sometime soon, myself, so I'd like to get subbed into this thread, too. I'm using a 600 watt light in a 3x3 ft area tent, that's 7 feet tall.

I tried out 5 different strains on my last grow, and the strain that had the best characteristics for SOG was East Coast Sour Diesel. It was just one big cola pretty much. I'm sure that I could fit at least 20 of them into my tent, maybe more. Each should yield at least 1/2 ounce, to maybe an ounce a piece.

Yes i am also growing in a 3x3 space with just over 5 foot of headroom under a 600w dual spectrum hps, i will create a 2nd seperate area for vegging halfway through the grow.

I am using 2 female pure ak, 2 female ww, 1 wos afghan kush x black domina, 1 dna rocklock, (also got a bubblegummer on the go)

I have been wanting to try all of these strains apart from the afghan kush x black domina (its intended for use as medical for someone) so i will be giving them 3 maybe 4 weeks veg to as im hoping to give them a chance to grow the other ones might be medical grade aswell considering the reviews i have read which is all the better

I'm also hoping to find a keeper strain out of these bunch for future sog grows, although i'm still trying to find more sea of green strains to veg before my 1st grow is done so i can put them into the main flowering room with a few weeks veg and flower already in them. Giving myself more work to do even getting autos onthe go!

Like others have said about SOG grows, you want to make sure you're as legal as you can be since you'll have lots of plants.

Me, I'm in California, and have a medical rec from a doctor stating that I can have more plants than county limits allow.

Anyhow, on my last grow, it bothered me seeing tons of empty space with 5 plants in my 3x3 tent. I got 10 ounces from 4 plants in that space, with 2.5 ounces per plant or so. I could double that with SOG, getting 1 ounce per plant with 20-25 plants in that space. SCROG's are another option, but they seem like a lot of work with really long veg times. Maybe other people will chime in on that, the SCROG vs SOG issue.

Bj,
There are so many ways one can do a sog.. Gets me excited actually. Anyways check this out: https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=69713&highlight=dr+bud

That's basically what I do. But! I don't veg. I take my clones in flowering and keep them there. All my plants get one cycle. That's bloom

Good luck man
how much weight u get per plant?? and what size pots are u using and what light?? sorry if i ask to much :P im about to start SOG and trying to decide 12/12 or veg 1 month then flower

I would make the final pot size 3 Gal.

If you want to start in the 3 Gal. or start in a 1 Gal and transplant. This is up too you.

But Would definately finish in a 3 Gal or 5 Gal.

Well you really won't decide intill you try one, and like it!!
My sog was with 2 mother plants in veg and I took clones whenever I could. The problem with veg is the plants get to big for me. When I vegged for a month I would have to put my plants on the floor because of height issues for my shelves.

Once I found out about a 12/12 from seed, I looked into it.. Apparently you don't have to take clones from veg plants. ANYTIME! In any cycle you can clone. So what'd I do? Said fuck this, and put all my bitches in flower. Once the clones got a little big I took my clones! And there I go!! I'm working with 2 strains, northern lights and sour diesel. I did what the doc did and I grow in 20oz soda bottles. I got t5s as my lighting, 4ft 8bulb dual spec. I got 4 and I'm waiting on a another one.. Sence.. Hah my plants just keep multiplying.

Yields are: 4-35gs a plant. I harvest every 4.5 weeks. 6 days ago I got just a little under 700gs with 31 plants. Next time I hope to atleast double that.. If things go as planned.. But nothing ever does lol

keep them kinda short, if you grow trees like I have started to you run into problems with lighting and overall coverage. make sure you have some hotshots hanging. mites will spread rampid without them. I have my lights and vent fans on the same timer so that the room saturates with hotshots formula each day for 6 hours keeps the mites at bay. overall iits a pretty simple method. you may want to lollipop your plants to prevent masses of air buds at the bottoms bot other than that good luck.

for sure, i agree with the light coverage and keeping them very short. Ill be running a 600 watt hps in a 4x4x6.5 tent. Two side by side 2x4 ebb and flow trays with separate reservoirs. lollipopping is a must for sure, and good word about the hotshots. are those like sticky traps? im not familiar with the "hotshots formula"...

get some exhale bags they release co2 slowly over about 4 months. they will help with overall yeilds. Hotshots slowly release pesticides into the air but they are safe for food and such according to the website, they last about 3 months.

Totally agree with the exhale bags...I've heard great things about those. I'll certainly check into the hotshots
