I'll second that. Smelled really gross, and was leafy as hell.
LDS is my absolute favorite!! huge buds covered in in arctic frost!! a bit on the spongy side once cured but a truly incredible smoke! these pics were taken two weeks ago. the smell is a bit weird but makes me smile every time i smell my fingers after handling the plant.

The shit is fucking nasty. Look at all the leaves in that bud. Barneys farm buys cannabis cup awards. Frankly I was asking for opinions on the strain, it's my opinion. You aren't going to change my mind, and maybe you should check the name of the thread. I think you might want to go post this in your favorite strain thread. I've seen a lot of people like it, but there have been some that absolutely think it is the worst ever.

Whoa!!! Completely your opinion dude. never did i say anything to try and sway you thoughts. i just gave my personal experience. you have to understand that the way these plants mature and bud is dependent upon the grower and a bit of luck. you may have had a bit of bad luck where as i had a great amount of good luck. on my plants the leaves are huge as well as my buds, and removing the small leaves in the bud would be a waste because of the amount of resin glands attached. i am also going to keep the fan leaves because they are frosted as well(HASH TIME!!). im not particular to Barneys but i do like this strain. this is my third grow with this strain and it gets better as i make adjustments after every harvest.

Barney's lsd is a very good strain... your problem is just pests sucking the life out of your leaves ;)

otherwise you'd certainly should have a decent yield for those lsd genetics...

try some organicide, canola oil, marigold flowers, and garlic in some foliar spray will get rid of most pests. marigold/garlic is safe for buds too but not everyone enjoys spraying their buds.

i sprayed them last thursday as well as yesterday with a very light neem oil solution. i had a small amount of bugs that were closer to the center of the plant but all is well. i believe the discoloration is actually nutrient burn. trying to push them to the limit this grow.:weed:

back to the subject, my worst grow would have to be KC Brains KC45.

yeah auto's just plain suck most of the time... only if you get lucky and hit that 1/15 chance it is a "special" ruderalis cross and end up with higher amounts of thc...

also considering it is "kc brains" genetics... little side note... see back in the day... kc had extremely good genetics and stable and great phenotypes... and what happened in my opinion, is that throughout the years the genetic variations over time infused themselves within the population and increased genetic diversity and thats why there are so many friggin phenos and its a crap shoot now with those genetics...

But... when you do get a few good ones (usually only 5-6 out of 30 possible phenos) or 18-20%... of the time... and thats why they are so cheap... but it works out though when a person spends only a dollar per seed... something like 40 bucks and you end up with several fantastic phenos and then can just of course preserve the genetics by cloning...

but yeah id def agree with you that cross of the 45 is not a good one at all...

p.s. that lsd pheno on the left labeled 6 foot lsd looks very uncharacteristically thinned out lol ;)

was it revegging or... creatively speaking... special decor? ;)...

well... regardless she is still pretty and has that nice christmas tree shape :)

im growing a pack of kc brains cali , got 1 sexing right now and one out side. only endded up with 2 plants(only keep the indica dom) good germ rate 9 out 0f 10 popped but i killed most of them cuz they looked like 100% sativa and i dont have the type of outdoor environment pure sativa needs to finish.

well... just saying here, it would be better to make sure to sex them first, cause those "indica phenos" that you kept, might be males... and the ones that "look sativa" sometimes are the females and they will get much bushier later on during flowering...

so just saying i wouldnt waste the chance that those "sativa looking" phenos might have actually just been indicas with thinner leaves due to growing environment or just a thinner leaved indica with longer node spacing... its not always the thinness of leaves that indicates which dominant pheno... it is several factors, one importantly the shape of the leaves and fingers... ;)

just sayin...

Damn no love for kc on these forums!!!! i just finished cali special and kc 36, found a real nice pheno in both strains.the cali finishes really quick and not sure how you got sativa pheno's out of a indica? low light will cause stretching and what appears to be a sat. dominant pheno. I'll post up some pics here of my kc brains strains i got.100_3126.jpggrow 3-4-12 020.jpgfirst harvest 011.jpgroom 009.jpg100_3029.jpgDon't believe everything you read i will give my stamp of approval for k.c. brains just got to remember there old school genitics.

not bad
i was afraid of ordering kc36, heard the last batch was almost 100% male or something. maybe ill give k.c. a chance, a few years ago i didnt think they were so bad.

i love kc's genetics, its just that you have to be patient to find the right pheno... i wasnt dogging them... just giving it like it is with regards to the growth in variation over the years of what was really stable and consistent to now not so stable... ;)

kc 45 = not so good... however there are a few great phenos of kc 36 and if your lucky there is what i call a super pheno of the 36 which is oddly sativa leaning and the only small drawback if you dont have the space, it will stretch like crazy during flowering though... but most importantly it will have a very strong high, not only that, but buds that plump up so much that they will actually need to be tied up from the top to keep them from bending over the stems ;)

my advice is if you were going for the 36 to get 2 or 3 packs just in case you get a string of males or bad phenos... its only natural that happens that way...

it'll happen to other companies and their genetics too... even if they try to maintain "purity" or stabilization... eventually variation will occur... and then they will have to take two good phenos and then get them to "stabilize"... which again is only temporary...

the only way to keep purity is cloning... and even then after a hundred generations of cuttings of cuttings variation and or mutation will occur... ;)

that is a good reason why kc's seeds are so cheap, it is because this is the case, but like i said earlier... just take a little time by doing a little searching through the picks of the litter and you will be very very pleased...

sannie stabilizes his strains pretty well, you get some variety but most look about the same but KC has been breeding for a while. i got some old friends still growin some KC strains, i think he bred danky doodle right? if so, that strain has some good reviews ive seen in the past. and yeah, cloning is the best way to get a copy of the original, id just keep reharvesting one mother and get clones every round, and backcross here and there.
have you got a herm from his beans?

No this is her actual shape. no thinning or anything. this is a clone from my last grow though. the first cycles the clone mother was about 5 feet tall with the same branching. last cycles clone mother was 6.5 feet with the same branching as well. i like the way it grows. light can penetrate to the center without me even touching anything. i have never pulled a single leaf and dont think i will have to this cycle either.

yes... there are many strains regardless of brand or breeder (some just have a higher genetic disposition than others) which have the tendency to herm... and here is a couple of reasons why... when breeders breed in bunches as in "fields of plants freely spreading their genetics around... they are used to having males around them...

so the females get pollinated early and have much less reason to add on the other gender... ;)

some though still if not pollinated to their liking, still throw a banana in or two anyways, and that pollen gets spread with all of the rest and that genetic info was just spread as far as the wind will take it, then after years of this... the trait has had its chance to increase...

like i said before if taken the time (not really that much effort) to sort out the good phenotypes then your chances of hermies will greatly reduce and you can get some excellent phenos where you get great plants with high thc high yield, and a negligible chance of the beans becoming hermies...

and of course just keep cloning the mother ;) and only roughly 1/1000 generations of clones will ever hermie on you ;)

just be sure to pay attention to the ones that after a long while start to throw 1 or 2 bananas and just "slightly" hermie AND DO NOT take their seeds and plant them and "allow" them to continue their genetic traits...

you want to turn "natural selection" into "controlled domestication"... ;)

otherwise you will have a long line of issues where the trait becomes more and more dominant and instead of just a "few" bananas, you'll get half and half where its full blown hermaphroditism... ;)

when males disappear your chances of hermies goes up... when stress goes up your chances of hermies goes up... there are alot of factors that can bring this out in any strain...

the ones that are more "stable" are the ones whose genetic variation has not had time to be "forced" or "allowed" into hermaphroditism so to speak...

again its all due to the genetics that have developed in the lineage over time, as all cannabis varieties all have the capability to, as a female, to grow pollen in an attempt to continue its "life" in a maleless environment so to speak...

just as a quote from the movie jurassic park where jeff goldblum said... and its true... life does really find a way... ;)

and why the hell not... ;)
