need some advice for my future setup (3 seasons setup)

Hi guys, been reading the forums trying to figure this out for myself, but I figure nothing beats a good ol' advice thread

Anyway, here's the idea, it's going to be located in a garage type location, but not insulated. As I am from canada, this means only 3 seasons a year growing (way too cold in the winter in that room).

Space is not really a concern, it's not a huge 20x20 room, but it's not tiny.

Now, I've inherited a 400W MH, and a 1000 HPS. I'm not worried about ventilation and all that, that will be taken care of once we get a good plan.
We're mainly interested in growing Sativa at first.

Questions:
- Since we're operating 3 seasons a year, does that mean I'm limited to one big harvest a year?
- Should I have two seperate rooms (one for veg, one for flowering), or do my seasonal restrictions make the two room idea useless?
- Should I SCROG? Seems to be the cool thing to do nowadays.
- Lots of little plants or less big plants?

edit- another question
- Do I order the seeds, then pick the best out of the bunch and use them, or pick the best out of the bunch and clone them and go from there?
Thanks guys!bongsmilie

.... I am going with SCROG this time round......

It takes a longer VEG........ but worth it for the yield...........

If you can keep VEGGING them until they become a Huge SCROG you will get plenty of yield to make up for not being able to grow all year round.........

IMO.......

... the Basic premise to SCROG seems to be... veg the plants until they fill 70% of your screen....

The screen can be anything from a metal mesh.... to string... as long as it is made of lots of square holes!!!

You want to fill the screen with Heads!

Then Switch to Flower! (u can prune away any smaller branches that are UNDER the screen)

... and watch those beasts grow!

When you get a lot of views and no responses, it usually means there is something about the post that is unclear. I don't know if you are talking soil or hydro. And I don't understand why you would only get one harvest. I only grow from Sept to April, and I get 4 harvests. Based on what you've said, I would start slow and learn about growing per se on a small scale before leaping into anything more.

3 seasons......call it 36 weeks........divided by 9 weeks.............is 4...........minus the original veg...........hmm
you could also get 3 SOG cycles in, if you find it interesting. its basically, low number of plants with long veg, or lotsa little ones with almost no veg. either strategy will achieve your goal, imo. whichever style fits your interests is the best. ScrOG is a lot of fun training (to me at least), and SOG feels more fast-paced and action packed.

thanks guys, yes it's soil

so I think SCROG seems like fun. From what I understand, after the first harvest, I can just trim everything, re-veg the plants and get a second (maybe third?) harvest from the same plants?

thanks

so just keep flowering them once you cut everything off?
I imagine there is a special way of cutting the plants so that you don't chop em to death

The most common type of setup is a perpetual grow you have two rooms so in one room flower the other veg, & germinate move crops from stage to stage as needed

If you cut in veg and keep clones in 18-6 they will stay in veg then while the rest is flowering you will already have your next crop vegging and picking up size
