A 4x6 tent with CFL's would not be efficient at all. How many plants are you trying to veg in there? What height do you veg your plants to? Either T5's or a 400-600w HID will probably be your best bet. Will depend on the answers to the above questions.

If you wanna go simple, you could do a few T-5's. I prefer them over loose hanging CFLs (but still use CFLs with T5 for side lighting). Or if you wanna go big... you could do a 400w MH with a 250w MH on rollers to distribute the heat/lighting more evenly. Or just stagnant 250w MH or up to 400w MH. I would stick to those watts, as much higher would be difficult to vent cheaply.

What type of setup are you getting them ready for? 400 might be a bit underpowered in there, I like the penetration of a 600w in a 4x4. BUT, if you're not vegging monsters you have no reason to get more wattage. So it largely depends how big you want to be able to get them without having stringy plants.

Why not 12/12 from rooted clone? Doesn't buying seeds all the time get expensive?
i think you would have to veg the clone a little first or it could flower to quick and small...........lets say i buy ten seeds for 75 quid and get 30 oz back.....seeds dont seem so dear when you consider what you get and im getting to try lots of strains .

Yea, I see what your saying. I meant "rooted" clones. Like a week old or so. I mean when you think about how much you are saving not having to buy weed I guess it makes sense.

of course the other thing about seeds is you can get some regs and breed which is what im doing again this year.........

12/12 from seed is different than clones. Clones have no tap root and behave much differently than a plant from seed started under 12/12.

Thanks man, I think we all understand that. We're actually talking about the advantages of either or. Having to not buy seeds for every grow as opposed to having different strains to play with all of the time. I'm fully aware that clones have no tap root. Been doing this a while now.

I guess what I meant is the 12/12 from seed growing style, just doesn't work the same with clones. the end result isn't the same. I have wanted to try the 12/12 from seed since I read a series of posts somewhere by no mercy supply. friggin awsome results.

Maybe one of these days! I haven't started a plant from seed in 4 years.
