Why so long to show sex?

So my plants are like a little over 5 weeks old itll be 6 weeks this friday..and they still havent shown sex so im scared to put them in flower due to seeds and shit. i was wondering if LST'ing them slowed down the process of showing sex? or does it sometimes take this long. lights been on 18/6 for 2 weeks no. thinking about going 16/8..wud tht help show sex?

I'm pretty sure it's 'cause you're on an 18/6 lightcycle.. 16/8 might help, 12/12 would def help

ya, i thought tht it showed sex when it was rdy didnt know it depended on light cycle..i just dont wanna pollinante my females so i wanted to make sure before flower. thanks man

18/6 is fine.

Once there are alternating nodes, you're close.

Just pretend you're married. You'll see sex eventually. LOL

I wouldn't mess with the light cycles.

ya i was gunna go 12/12 on may 1st anyways so its an easy date to remember i forgot all the dates for everything..if it wasnt for my girl i wudnt know when i even started them...im gunna run outta space if there all female..actually hopeing for at least 1 male to make room

they should show before then especially if they are at 6 weeks already. the plant will show sex once its fully matured even with a veg light cycle.

well i havent checked them since sunday morning soo im gunna check tonight and hopfully i have some kinda sign. i only check my plants every 2 days

unless they are an autoflowering strain, they will not show sex till a couple weeks under 12/12 light cycle(This is the very best cycle for flowering(sexing))

P.S. This is not always exactly the case, but 90% of the time it is

12/12 will push the plant into flowering.. 18/6 will let the plant show it's sex naturally, it's gonna be alot bigger though

hey do us all a favor and dont give out bad info. every strain as long as its normal seed will show sex once its fully matured even under veg lighting.

and if u doubt it ask anyone thats givin their plants longer than a 2 month + veg. on one rare occasion has my plants not told me sex and that was just cuz it was the wimp of the group and needed longer to mature.

Yes, a healthy plant will show it's sex by the six node set. How about some close ups.

i mean there healthy if u check my thread those are the ones im talking about..i have no spots or yellowing on any of my leaves..i water every 2 days..and im flushing right now to start flower nutes so hasnt even got nutes in a few days..idk i think i seen some white pistils but they were green on the other side so idk if it was just new grow or sex..

i would avoid flushing till after the stretch. the plants are gonna need the "N" for the extra growth in flower. i normally wait till about the second week of flower for a nice flush.

well im gunna give it nutes tht are 10-10-10 rather than 8-7-6..so itll still get N, i just didnt know if going from 1 to the other wud effect it.

You can flip whenever you want. You need to keep the size of your garden in check. Longest a plant ever took to sex for me was a week or so when they have a been vegged a few weeks. LSTing will not effect the flowering.

ya my garden is over flowing right now with only 4 plants thts why i wanna move the males out if there even is any for more room.

just keep an eye out for pollen pods in little ball shapes

make sure u check daily. becuz once a plant is mature it can spit out a fully mature sack within days of flowering and hose all ur plants with pollen. just take a peak in once a day and pull them once u r sure they are male. also post pics it helps.
