Here is just the basic explanation
No big secret here, just dry the buds first slowly by air and then allow them to cure in mason jars or something similar. The taste and smell of the bud will improve with time, just make sure that the containers are air-tight and stored in a dark place as both light and air will speed up the THC degradation process. THC will degrade to CBD no matter what so you might get a smooth smoke but the bud will not be as potent as the day you harvested.
I've found once their dry, their dry. I know that sounds simple but once I've dried mine they go into a blacked out container in the bottom of the refrigerator(vegetable crispier) for safe keeping and freshness. I guess it's old school. But never thought of it that way.
i've of some people curing for a year? i always thought tht was a bit unnesscary but personally im gunna cure this harvest 10-14 days..and i think thts plenty right or wrong? people talk about curing and burping saying tht the moisture inside the bud u wanna bring to the outside without actually realeasing the moisture just want it to settle on the outside? is this accurate grandpa?
Well I've heard of such but they were curing with flavoring a whole different animal.
I put in glass jars and seal them up and once a day I undo the top's for about an hour to let moisture out.
The curing process begins at a humidity of 55-60 when sealed. At much over 60, mold will develop. At under 55, the curing process has stopped and can't be restarted. A lot of people think they are curing buds when they are just storing them. You can't get that accurate with humidity unless you use a meter (caliber III on ebay).
I don't even weigh my weed until it has cured 30 days. Buds for my personal use have cured 6 months or longer.
what is the benefit of a longer cure? what is curing with flavoring? i have yet to harvest a crop myself soo im tryna do MY first grow right. my buddy cures for 2 weeks and his shit is on point always comes out proper. but maybe it cud be better
ok? now im lost lol idk if u were answering my question or putting more on smiles post..lol so if i let it cure for 4 week rather than 2 weeks it shud get more potent or better tasting? or both?
If you have what I would call a controlled dry, glass jars air tight, it will take longer.
What I've seen here. They hang them out to dry on strings open air drying. Not so good for flavor, but takes less time.
ya i was taught to hang it out to dry for 12-24 hrs just until the very outside is dry then jar it, and burp like u said once a day for atleast 2 weeks.
is that just one persons persona on this straight to jar ?? (grandpa) or what because i thought it was hung about a week then jared for two weeks as a curing process. let me know tho because i did just chop and hang today, so if what you say is true then id much rather do it that way!
