I was wondering whats the difference between pre-98 bubba and just bubba kush? was something crossed with it after 98?

Sweve nailed it. Watered down and crossed or BX'd. Like the original Korean IBL aka Romulan from the '50s that has been around northern Cali for generations. You can still find her once in a while but nowadays the canucks got ahold of it, crossed it with white russian and call it Romulan. BULLSHIT!
doesn't yeild well. I've been told, if you're not pissed off with your weight at the end, it's not real bubba.

Not a heavy yielder for me either but patients love it.
i find the internodal spacing on it to be very unique and well spaced. The buds always seem more ROUND than cola looking

Swerve, I just got a Corleone OG, which is half Bubba- does it resemble the Bubba? I also have a Julius Caesar, and a Larry on the way, if you feel like talking Kush and the differences in these strains I'd learn a lot. I have no experience with any of the California kush varieties and don't know what to expect or how to grow. (My Blackwater at about 30 days veg. is huge and LST'd.)
Those are some lovely plants! I'm assuming you clone. I've currently got 2 CC Pre-98 Bubba Kush BX2 about ready to flip. I need to take clones first. But the side growth is so small I can't see how you can clone from that do you top the plant to clone or where do you take your clones from?

I have a clone only non-Cali Connection pre-98 bubba, and it is pretty slow growing.
On the other hand, I also have a clone of Bubba 76', which is a cross done by the Emerald Triangle Seed Company that mixed 76' afghan with pre-98 bubba, and it's a really good looking, nice smelling, fast growing plant.
I've decided to clone the Bubba 76' for my SOG project, instead.

How did you clone her? My CC Bubba has zero side growth about the only way to clone is to top her.

My CC Pre 98 didn't have much side branching to it either, it was the wierdest looking plant i've ever grown! It looked prehistoric like something you would see a dinosaur standing next to, it grew straight up with very little side branching, the stalk was as big around as a quarter at a foot tall and it had the biggest fattest leaves i've ever seen, i swear one leaf would of covered a basketball, it didn't yield shit but it was straight fire!!!
Im sure i could of done better in the yield department with some topping and training but oh well. I think the way to go with it is to top early and offten.
