Everyones worried about cooling thier rooms, but what about HEATING?

My op is going to be in a decent sized industrial unit. I'm in Toronto. During the winter it is fucking cold, as it is all over the Northeastern United States in places like NY and Boston. Let's say that my lights keep the place warm when they are running (I ASSUME this will be the case.) However, when the lights are on their off cycle there will be nothing to keep the place from being cold as fuck ..... how to people solve this problem?

...... man ...... you guys have no idea ..... i'm jumping into this shit full throttle and dropping alot of cash. I've never grown before. Looks like this is shaping up to be an epic 10 k grow by a total newb. it's gonna be ..... interesting. haha.

insulate the crap out of your space to keep heat in cold out.recirculate air instead of exchanging air when lights are off the white foam sheet insulation is easy to work with hope this helps.

you should start small. There is too much competition to be a noob and make money at it. just sayin. And if your room is sealed, you shouldnt have a huge problem with it staying warm enough. dehumidifiers and all that will keep it warm. a simple electric heater would do the trick i would think if it got a little low.

depending on the size (you say industrial and 10k, so seems big!) you could use electric heaters. I was only growing a single plant this past winter, and bought a little $20 heater to keep the temps consistent, worked fine. and as other say, insulate the CRAP outta it.

Can you pump veg room air to flower area? I use an oil filled electric radiator but MUCH smaller area.

IDK maybe its just me but that sounds pretty suspicious, I call one time. How many ppl that have never even dropped a seed in some soil gonna go out and drop 10k on their 1st try? R we in spaceballs did Lord Helmet just say to go straight to Ludicrous Speed cause that sounds just plain ridiculous, afterwards I will jam this transmission with raspberry jam!! i dropped 10k my first grow. but 10k isnt going to get you industrial anything lol. another dreamer

Well, I'm pretty confident in my ability to research and learn the basics before I begin. It's going to require an incredible amount of dedicated studying, but that's okay.

As for the size, it's simply a matter of "if you're gonna do something, do it right."

And I'm going to post pictures and updates of everything on this site. So all you guys will be able to see it all the way from the constructing phase through the first crop. It's 100% legal so I got nothing to hide. I think this place will be an invaluble resource in helping me solve whatever problems arise.

Some of the portable AC units have heaters as well.
Grow on pallets or similar to be off cold concrete.

If funds are tight rent a room at the Holiday Inn and take the heat pump home.

If you're going to do/attempt something that big know wtf you're doing I always say. You have no idea how many problems you're gonna run into and everyone of those problems will cost you money, but good luck.

You can get switchers for the ballasts. Run two rooms, 12x12 hr. 1 room's waste heat, warms the other. Then reverse. Good kit if you are spending that kind of dough.

No one talks about heating because heating is easy as fuck - you buy a heater. If you want to get real fancy, you use a shop heater or natural gas furnace / burner or something that wont draw power -- regardless, lights make a LOT of heat.

You can get switchers for the ballasts. Run two rooms, 12x12 hr. 1 room's waste heat, warms the other. Then reverse. Good kit if you are spending that kind of dough.

You can do this same thing with SPDT relays and a timer a lot cheaper. There probably isn't $10 worth of electronics in most the 'switchers' out there.

So, how easy is it to connect all of these things to some kind of environmental control unit that can automatically turn the AC on at the right times to keep it at the right temp when the lights are ON and then turn of the heater as needed when the lights are off? I think you might be over-thinking it - you don't need a climate controller, you just need a thermostat-controlled heater. You could put the heater on a timer, so it would shut off a couple hours before the lights came on, but even that isn't really necessary.

really? cmon, whats another 500 or so if he's going big? a controller is no big deal and very very user friendly.

I'm already assuming the the first crop will be a failure. That is built in to my calculations. If it isn't a failure, that's just a bonus for me.

I don't know how much time it will to to garden. At first, I will have only about 60 plants! Soon after, I will be able to legally grow about double that. And, then, at some point in the future when I get a third patient I should be able to about triple it to somewhere around 200 plants.

I can spend a few hours a day doing it. That's the amount of time I can put in.

I hope I will be able to leave the shit alone for like 48 hrs every once and a while when absolutely neccessary.
