thinking of switching soil what do you guys think of....

ok i use foxfarms ocean forest soil and i get burn nutrient burn everytime i try and feed my plants. i wait a month to start feeding and the bottom leaves start to yellow,i feed with bio thrive grow a very low percent organic nutrient at 330 ppms and still got nutrient burn. so i have come to the conclusion that it has to be the soil. i would like to try pro mix bx or sunshines advanced mix #4 has anyone tried these soils, when can you start feeding with these soils also is bio thrive grow and bio thrive bloom, bio weed and bio bud a complete nutrient that can carry a plant from start to finish..

cut your ocean forest with sunshine mix or switch to Roots Organic. I use Subcools supersoil its in the organic section, but if you are new i would suggest 50% Ocean forest and 50% sunshine mix. OF is known to be a little hot for sensitive plants.

i would go straight sunshine #4 with worm castings. that's what i use and i will be adding 30% coco in the near future. FF is way to hot in my opinion. sunshine is a soiless mix so you start to add nutes as soon as your plants can handle it. the soil contains none which i like. i add 20% worm castings for beneficial bacteria and fungi. you can also add a tablespoon of dolmite lime per gallon of mix for a more stable pH but i don't think you need it. i'm adding the coco as a test because i think the sunshine has a little too much perlite and dries out fast. i want to see if adding coco will help slow that down a little. good luck.

thanks for the helpfull info...how soon can rooted clones be feed in either sunshine #4 or pro mox bx...and also could anyone tell me if the bio thrive grow, bloom, bio weed, and bio bud are a complete nutrient line. aka will it be enough to keep a plant healthy and thriving from start to finish.

you always go based on plant growth. i feed seedlings/clones just a light formula of Thrive Alive B-1 Red mixed to 150ppm. feed that till your plant has 3 sets of new leaves for clones or true leaves for seedlings. then you start your light veg formula. i usually start at 300ppm. there are other things like Roots Excelurator and Superthrive that can be added to the seedling/clipping stage but i'm not sure what your budget is or your growing experience. you can add those later on.

never used bio thrive. for sunshine or any soil mix i use House and Garden 2 Part Soil Nute. it's pretty cheap considering the concentration of the formula. plus it's got acids in that help with nutrient uptake and also has very little salts so you don't need to flush as much. once again; there are additives that you can get but not sure where you are at. i would recommend Botanicare Cal/Mag plus though. you will need that at least.
