Start flushing now? wait? harvest soon? (good pictures)

I have four plants going and need advice one when to start flushing, or even when to harvest. They are Cheese, OG Kush, Purple Kush, and LSD.
Today is day 57 of 12/12 lighting, 2 were vegged for 1 1/2 month, the others slightly less.
Grow under 250 HPS & 2x 30w daylight CFL for lower buds.
Grown in 3gal smartpot with peat moss/perlite and fed with my own recipe based with GH Floranova. I flushed once when I started 12/12

The photos are labeled, the Purple Kush is showing a few ambers, the rest are all cloudy/1% amber.

flushing is a myth, and isn't needed what so ever...
check out this link... only read the posts by the op, skip the questions and talk by other members for the most part, and you will learn a ton..

btw, those buds look bomb, nice work..
get a small handheld microscope from radioshack and use it to look at the trics, and harvest when the trics are where you like them.. i like mine around 50% amber and 50% cloudy..
btw, the mics only run about $15 or so from radioshack..

Thanks, actually this isn't my first go, and I've experimented, flushing at the end makes a big difference for me in the final result.
The first few times though, I probably flushed too early and my hand was forced to harvest slightly earlier than I wanted, I'm just looking to correctly time this so they can reach full maturity properly.

We don't have radio shack here, I've looked around. I use a macro lens and it does the job.

The taste I can't say, I haven't grown two of the same strain at once to compare. The non flushed plants both had quite noticeably harsher smoke and hard, black ash, as opposed to smooth smoke and light ash. I cured everything for 6 weeks+.
Apparently, from my own research, this is due to the fact that the plant will be injesting "fresh" nutrient at the time of harvest instead of using already converted and stored energy.

When you flush the plant, you force it to use up all the nasty fertilizers in the medium and that the plant has already absorbed. After all the fertilizer is used by the plant, it starts using stored energy in the leaves

Just take ONE of your plants and taper the feed down to pure water a week+ before harvest and compare it to another that you have fed heavy till the end. There will be no reduced yield but the color/immediate smokability will no doubt be improved. After curing for long enough i'm sure I wouldn't be able to tell the difference though.

idk about flushing.. but ive noticed that using JUST WATER the last two weeks makes my bud taste better than when i used nutes all the way up to my harvest.

You won't lose a single gram by flushing. The only thing I lose by flushing it that weird chem taste.

lol your foolish.. not having to flush and keep feeding nutes till harvest is really only acceptable in a fully organic setup and even then alot of people still prefer to flush. i would love more than anything in the world to watch you smoke a bowl of some weed that was grow with full regimen of advanced nutes or general hydro nutes all the way to the day of harvest

From what i understand nutrients are only transported to the buds as instant onhand energy and not stored. I have smoked outdoor organically grown herb from mendocino vegetarian ultra hippies that didnt turn to clean white ash when smoked. I have also grown hydroponic chemical nutes till finish and had ash that turned white.

well i dont know what to tell you your experiences are the opposites of mine.. iv cropped without flushing using advanced sensi bloom and the final product was really harsh and burned black just my experience but now that your saying all that i may just let one of my plants go un flushed to do a little test

I have had harsh buds when not flushing before dont get me wrong. I just attributed it to a fast dry or what have you. I have done the flushing before and personally never noticed apalatable difference. Of course i am not running anywhere near full strength in the last few weeks of flower. They have a lot of stored energy a bit after they finish their stretch. I actually think that a low ppm in the final week would help drain excess nutrients bettwr than plain water.

Have a friend who harvested a sample prior to full harvest, the trychs were clear/cloudy n it had 80% red hairs, quik dried and only flushed 2 days prior and it tasted nice,great punch in the throat n full taste of GANJA!! So flushing in a full hydro setup maybe required but if its mainly organics or soil based few days i rekn youll be right..IMO of course!! Not a grower anymore.

What I do, when I anticipate my harvest on a certain day, I plan my feedings to correlate with that harvest day, so by the time the plant "runs out of food" after it's "last feeding", viola, it's harvest time.

All the nutes in the plants are metabolized, there are no wasted nutes, and no chemmy flavor in the buds.

It's all about timing and reading your plants needs.
