I joined the CG with the intent of helping people.
I got a bit more than I bargained for.
On the morning of the 17th, the pleasure craft Olo Yumi with 52 persons sank when the people on board panicked, ran to the stern, and caused water to come over the transom. The helicopter on patrol from cutter Courageous sighted the people in the water and began rescue operations. The cutter, a few miles from the disaster, broadcasted the emergency. Arriving, Courageous launched her boats, lowered cargo nets, and put swimmers in the water. She along with Coast Guard helicopters rescued 38 and recovered 10 bodies. These refugees had been among those housed in the Peruvian Embassy. One survivor, a 15-year-old girl, lost both parents, both sisters, and a grandparent. The boat had been grossly overloaded. Admiral Stabile sent the following Telex message to the Cuban Border Guard:

when we were in Somalia. To cut a long story short basically we took over the Mogadishu beach club and refilled it with beer. The ocean there is peerless. warm clear water, beautiful rare shells on the beach, rock pools of beauty. Lots of great white sharks! so there we are (right bunch of) doing breast stroke, some men are pulling off handstands in the water others allowing the water to lap over them while discussing the necklace taking place not to far away (tyre around the neck and set on fire) and how bad it smelt. A young guy comes bombing it along the beach yelling something in Italian waving his hands for us to come out of the water. we do to find that a young kid has had his leg clean bitten off, there dead. And we had been swimming right there.
The ocean (it really is very nice) at high tide would come all the way up to the beach club wall. Sharks would swim right up to wall and stay there just waiting for something. One day part of the wall caved in. we happened to go to the golf course day that day (not very good, sandy, smallest little hedgehogs you've ever seen squashed on the road leading up to it) which was lucky as we would often lean against the wall and peer down at the sharks.
Anyways the heroic thing was a baboon used to hang out with us. we'd give it beer etc. one day it freaked out and attacked. a few of us beat it up. No mean feat a wild drunk baboon is a match for a wee army.
If you have ever beaten off a drunk baboon you too are a hero.

not a hero just a good guy must be about 6 maybe 7 years ago got my little girl of to school came back home had a joint and fell asleep got awoken by my smoke alaram going of.
sht my self runing around my flat trying to find the fire as hallway is filling with smoke. I can't find the fire but the hall is filled with smoek then i fealize the falt down stairs there somek
alaram is going of. So i go down start banging on there door no one answers so i looked through the letterbox see smoke but i hear one of there kids krying ishit ti there and then what the
fuck do i do still got a fuzzie head from the joint i bang on the door next to theres to ask for help to kick the door in but no its only the guys wife and she just starts screaming wich din't
help.So i start to kick this door not fucking doing shit to it as a couple of weeks before they were all fitted with steal plates beside the locks.
All this time the woman [helen] is fuckin screaming the kids the kids so i start kicking at the hindges fuck three kicks and the door gives way the hall is filled with smoke i hear the crying
coming from the living room.I get in the little boy is standing on the couch next to his dad.I am thinking wtf i grab the we lad get him out go back in for his dad [shane ]
He's a fucking dead beat dad but i fear the worst as i get into the living room he starts to wake up and turns to me and asks that do i think i am doing in his house i could have killed him
fucking prick.We get outside and all i can smell from him is alcohol he was fuking lying there drunk he had put athe chip pan on and fell asleep now this was only about 10:30 am
His wife now exwife had droped the eldest children at school and whent into town for shopping she gets back not long after the fire brigade arived and he told her that the chip pan whent
on fire and he got himself and there son out wat fucking cunt .So i start to tell her what realy happend but Helen started shouting at him saying he was a fucking lier and an alcoholic.
but i am no hero just think it's what we all would do in that situation help somone in need
