Pacquiao rips Obama's views on gays

Boxing champion Manny Pacquiao has come out swinging against US President Barack Obama's personal endorsement of same-sex marriage. In an interview with the National Conservative Examiner, the religious Pacquiao said Obama's view was nothing more than a direct attack on the morals of society and the will of God.
"God only expects man and woman to be together and to be legally married, only if they so are in love with each other," he said.

"It should not be of the same sex so as to adulterate the altar of matrimony, like in the days of Sodom and Gomorrah of old," he added, citing the Bible.

Recently voted Forbes' fourth most influential athlete, the Filipino described same-sex marriage as an "abomination" and went on to say that America should be the model of morality for other countries to emulate.

Pacquiao, currently the World Boxing Organization welterweight champion and regarded by many as the best pound-for-pound boxer on the planet, already has a burgeoning career out of the ring. He is a member of the Philippines legislature, hosts a weekly TV game show and has his own vegetable business. He is also hoping to become a leading Christian evangelist after having a religious "awakening."

Last week, Obama became the first US president to say publicly that he backed gay marriage. Although many politicians, showbiz celebrities and commentators have expressed views on the contentious issue, high-profile members of the sporting community have been largely silent.

I can understand calling a person an abomination for being a rapist or murderer. It takes a special kind of asshole to call a gay person that.
I agree.
But it's his right to say it. And it's Stonermans right to agree with it.
By the way, a person can agree with someone's overall point without agreeing on every detail.

This coming from a man who cheated on his wife with an actress he was working with on a film. There are allegations that he had two affairs since then and may have fathered a child with one. What a great role model for "traditional marriage". An endorsement from a brain damaged devout Catholic that can't even follow his own beliefs.

Do you know 2 men that ever had a baby with out adoption or 2 women? Maybe the bible has it right.
damn straight the bible has it right. a talking snake gave a forbidden apple to a rib woman so we must all worship a zombie that defies physics.

makes perfect sense.

So you're saying that adoption is against Biblical teachings? Can you cite me chapter and verse? Does that mean childless couples who wish to adopt are an abomination?

Who cares what this guy thinks
I do. He is a public figure that is promoting bigotry and using his celebrity status to sway public opinion on a civil rights issue.

Still my favorite boxer :hump:

But this isn't really shocking. He is catholic, after all.
No. What is shocking is his advocacy of the death penalty for being gay. Yes, he fully endorses the Leviticus final solution. This coming from the same book the demands the death penalty for disobedient children, adultery, prostitution, having a representation of a deity from another religion (better throw away those kachina dolls or african masks) in your home, being a psychic, practicing Wicca or any other non-approved religion, being converted, converting someone else, apostasy, blasphemy (taking the Lord's name in vain which is something we're all guilty of), cursing at or hitting your parents, being an alcoholic, etc., etc., etc., ad nauseum.

Yeah, who cares what this popular religious fanatic politician with a hate agenda thinks? What possible harm could he do?

That is shocking 0.0 ... Getting punched in the head for a living + crazy religious beliefs = :dunce:

my thoughts exactly. putting so much stock into what some random athlete says is exactly HOW we give them their "influence". making the comments public so that people can listen and form opinions of THE MAN himself is fine, but anyone who uses the opinions of a boxer to actually decide which which "side" to take is more than likely an idiot to begin with, and manny's comments won't change anything.

i'm glad others have already touched on the irony of the guy's own infidelities before he shot his mouth off. makes him even less credible than he would otherwise have been, which wasn't much to begin with.

I have just lost respect for Pacman, but I'll still root for him against Mayweather (IF that happens). I dont see how christains like these get respect.
