If your just geting into growing or just hydro for the first time? I would look to ebb & flow flood tables
like a 2x4 table and a 25gal res. lighting, i would run a 600watt hps and a vented cooltube. Stay with
a basic nute line like technoflora or just use the lucas resipe to keep thing simple and cheep!

I recommend starting with simple dwc. Invest next to nothing, learn a ton in the first grow. Then decide in what direction to expand.

i think flood tables are the easy way to step into hydro as well. you can grow in rockwool blocks, pots of hydroton, or smart pots with whatever medium you want basically. if you're gonna do a table though then get a square one like 3x3 or 4x4. that way you aren't wasting any light. you could do a 400w over a 2x2 table, 600w over a 3x3 table, and a 1000w over a 4x4 table. they are real easy to set up and aren't that expensive.

Ebb @ flow is like a auto piloted hydro system! Just add water and nutes and your growing!
dude wants to grow up to 4 plants! I dont think 4 dwc setups are going to be the best choice.

Making a 4unit rdwc is as simply as adding a control bucket, drilling a couple holes and inserting hoses and fittings though. Plus its easy to slowly build it up to a full-blown ucdwc system(mine is in the works:hump:). Never used any type of F & D and they seem really simple to use but it also seems like they have a few up front faults:

system height limits plant height
plant stability
res location inside grow area
water pump timing issues(i just see a flood happening in my room)
largely exposed rw/roots
how do you improve them?
Tons of hydroton for larger setups, though my 8 waterfarms are no better. 6" netpots are gonna fix this, and they can hold trees.

DWC can have problems with air pumps and that's about it. Higher risk for root rot, hard to control temps in single units but rdwc negates this: control bucket outside grow area with ice bottles or iceprobe for smaller setups, chiller for larger. I put my single units into a larger tub with ~20gal and just kept that filled with ice to keep my buckets cool. Take out half and replace it with cold water every 3-4 days.

So IMO DWC is autopilot if you get temps around 65, get a ton of aeration, and use good quality water with a proper feeding schedule, as long as the environment is properly maintained just like any other growing style.

And I'm not just trying to bash E&F without having used it, that was just my own comparison from when I was choosing my own grow style, and my experience/plans/continued research since.

Thanks all for the reply ...I am currently doing a bagseed grow nd its actually looking good. I plan on doing 2-3 more grows with good seeds . I want to start learning about hydro now so I can have some good time to learn.

5 gal bucket, lid, net pot - $15.00
Air pump, hose, air-stone from Wallyworld - less than $20.00
Hydroton - $3.00

so for less than $40.00 you have a DWC, or you can go even cheaper by using a 60L tote.

well hmm. lgihting the most important part. get a good light.. if u live someplace warm use coolers to grow from not paint buckets. general hydro has some easy to use nutes

basically u need nutes water with air in it and light and growing bucket.

so here is the list

1. light
2. bucket to grow from
3. air/ air stones for inside the bucket
4. nutrients
5 fans for air movement

ok inside bucket besides air u will need a way to monitor temps. same with ur grow room. and humidity for room. you want to see a basic dwc setup or how to make bucket youtube "diy dwc" u will find many using paint buckets tho i recomend coolers. my state is considered colder and i had water temp issues.

lightt here is a formula. based on how many cubic feet in room on how much light u need. know what ur water temps shud be and room temps. tho if your room temps are high u can help it out with co2 it wont drop the temps but helps the plants work when temps higher(but different strands require different temps.) but without specific questions its hard to know where to point you. maybe throw us what ideas you had and we can help by tellign if worth investment for first time grow or needed ect.

i googled it for months, than bought most of the stuff from people on craigslist. The result was fantastic. Few bad grows outside in green house but when it came inside that was the ticket for me. No darn bugs.

When I jumped into hydro, I went with Stinkbuds system. Easy to setup and build Easy to follow directions, and I never killed a plant in 2 years. I believe he has a new book out but i've switched to organic
