Does anyone veg with 14/10

I have heard something about female plants prefer less daylight, and when seeds start later in the season they mostly come out female plus more than a few old time growers swear by it more than one saying that they never bought female seeds, and still have not had male plants. But as always I wanted to hear what works for you let's share stories.

I've never done it and I wouldn't try it. I would be worried about the plants switching to flower.

And if the female plants prefer less light thing were true wouldn't people get nothing but female plants if they went 12/12 from seed?

Who ever told you that, doesn't know enough. There is a 13 hour veg cycle that works. It's 12 Hours on 5.5 off 1 hour on 5.5 off then repeat. Then when you switch to flower your preflowers will almost double in size but your yield will eventually pay for it

I like what you're saying and i looked at the threads with 12/12 from seed and have not yet seen anyone complaining about males in the garden. Check for yourself. I'll wait

I often veg with a 15 on/9 off schedule to help reduce my electricity costs. My plants may grow a bit slower but with my signature strain, Green Poison, I don't really notice much of a difference. I grow mainly feminized so I can't report on the male/female ratios other than to say my reg seeds average out at about 50%/50%. I think ratio issues are more about jamming to many plants together, too high nitrogen levels in veg and breeding (parent choices).

cannabis plants are by nature light hungry plants. also, i would bet that sex is determined pre-germination, otherwise feminized seeds wouldn't be possible

Well I was looking at del666 12/12 thread and he uses female seeds and a couple others have been using bagseed. but residents just don't hear many people saying they got males I mostly just wanted to see who veggies with less than 18/6 cause light bills are high as hell.

Didn't think about that but if that was the case then female plants wouldn't be able to go hermie even feminized seeds can turn out male

You can read up on my thread, it's all in there. I stoppe using it because I believe I can pull more with 18/6 to 12/12 but this is kinda like my trial run with co2 also so we'll see which is better.

Yeah it's basically folk lore about getting more females and males with more or less light and all the other things people say...

Plus if you use feminized seeds it doesn't matter.

What a load of bullshite mate... It is a viable accepted veg cycle, though not commonly used among hobby growers 'cause it's "different". The plants don't even kick into flower and you can't herm a vegging plant... Please do some reading before you spread false info...

One thread does not make me or anyone else who uses this method wrong, which turns out to be more than I thought among some larger scale growers I know.

I work on things out of practice, trial and error anything anyone writes I generally take with a grain of salt until I've tried it, especially with the amount of mis-information out on the web these days, everyone growing pot has a lot to learn, you can never know everything about everything, always new things to find out.

And well the results speak for themselves, flick through the 1st, 12 pages or so of InsaneMJ's thread and after trying it myself for the past month... He used it as a Veg cycle. As plants only need 13 hours of light a day to stay in veg.

From what that forum states, I think is a bit 'off', OR they are counting the 1st, 3 weeks of flower from when they first see pistols. YES when a plant has been in 12/12 until sex has shown and you then interrupt the night cycle with 1 hour of light they will most likely herm. But exclusively using it as a veg cycle works great as an energy saving method.

The way I count my flower period is from the day I flip the lights from 18/6 to 12/12 most of the time I do a 48 HR dark period before I do the flip. I start flower nutes then too. But don't count that as the flower days.

I count flower period from the day I switch to 12/12 as well. Do you count flower days from when you see pistols then?

I meant the link the previous poster put up saying that the 12, 5.5, 1, 5.5 cycle causes herms, which it will once you have been flowering and the plants sex shows, but as a veg cycle it works and wont put your plants into flower mode!

man, where to start with this one?? fem seeds aren't just normal every day seeds, but are rather created when a breeder adds a chemical to an otherwise normal female plant, usually collodial silver, but there's one or two others, which in turn make that female plant grow a few male stamens, which the breeder will take the pollen from and pollinate another normal female plant, giving you fem'ed beans..

i agree that all seeds possess both x and y chromosones, simply for the fact that hermie plants exist.. so that tells me that the plants must already contain both sets of chromosones, other wise they never would be able to go hermie if they didn't contain the other sex'es chromosones..

not everyone believes with this statement, but to me the science is just there to back that up..

I did 10/14 for FLOWER, but 18/6 for VEG.
got about .43g/kWh and thats decent. But i have never heard of less than 12/12 for veg. Regardless if indoor / outdoor.
give it a shot! I'd love to see a journal.
