It's gonna be hot as balls this summer

Greetings, fellow Stoners:

If I'm putting this in the wrong part of teh forumz please accept my apologies. :dunce:

Anywho the dilemma is this: Our flowering room gets hot as balls in the Summer, like 80-90F. (Prolly closer to 80 with the veg bulb as opposed to the flowering bulb... But y'all probably already knew that.) So we have decided to just get some happy, healthy seedlings going (crossed fingers) and veg the fuck out of them until the weather cools off and we can flip on the flowering bulb without frying them.

This next grow will be our fourth. This last one wasn't so good. (I was at work and school for 4 months so they didn't get any extra TLC!) So we have some experience, but we are still novices.

Anybody wanna chime in on some strains that like it hot?

Cheers all.

Those temperatures sound absolutely fine. My cab used to sit at those temps all year round wihtout an issue. I mean the optimal temperature range for cannabis goes all the way to about 85 or 86 degrees.

Hmm. See, the thing is, last Summer the poor ladies just WILTED. It was a hot and humid Summer, even for The Plum. We figured this year we'd make the best of a bad situation and veg those bitches out to be monsters.

Another issue was ventilation. To keep the temp. under 90 we had to undo the flap, meaning the light cycle got fucked up. What were we running?... Early Blueberry and Blue Cheese. There may have been a Sour Kush in there. Something else, too, that died or got moldy while curing.

ya my grow sits between 83F and 93F and never had any problems. just make sure you have some air movement through there even if your not venting the air in or out and you'll be fine. you can start to worry if you start creeping over 90F.

Have you guys who are having no problems with 80-90 temps ever had a full grow at 70-80 temps to compare with? You might think you are having no problems but I have a hard time believing your plants arent being affected with those temps. I have seen the differences in both the temps and the plants responses to those temps.

I dont know how your grow room is set up, but if you can work out a way to install a window ac unit or a wall ac unit (about 100 bucks) I would be all over it. Make sure you have enough CFM on your lights to suck off the heat.

People who use co2 treatments will run higher than average temperatures as well.

The term "full grow" means nothing unless you simply mean flowered and harvested in which case i have indeed had a "full grow" with those temps and most likely they do drop a bit come winter when it's just the light warming things, not the light and sunshine. Never had a temperature related issue. They do just dine and do the same each time. And that was with the same strain for 3 years, always ended up exactly the same.

you can grow in those temps but ur bud will not be all it can be,unless ur runnin co2.80 degrees with lites on and 70 lites off is more ideal without co2...

We have wanted to get one of those portable air conditioners for a long time, but whenever we see them they are >$300. Ouch!

i would stress the fact yu need an ac unit ,and i would work on that first,if the heat dont hurt the plants the hermies will.85 is max u can go without causing some inner issues.

The way our ventilation system is set up is jury-rigging, American ingenuity at it's best. A window unit would be a security issue, believe me, we've thought about it. (Light leak- we have to run the lights at night.) The room is on the Southern wall of the house. I just have to keep scouring CraigsList I guess

We both like Indicas, though, so I have to do some legwork and find some babies that like a good long veg time... I used to be the "research" half of this Doobtastic Duo, but school and work has had me out of the game for the past year. I can't wait to get in there feet first and make some sexy weed!

Anybody got some long-veg favorites? I'm all ears.

Unfortunately I also have a whiz quiz on Tuesday so I gotta sit out until then >:^( But I can use the time for research!

Have a safe holiday all, don't drink and drive... Smoke and sit...

If you grow room is sealed off with no outside light posible and you install green light bulbs in your normal room lighting than just switch the night to day and day to night. The plant wont know and your lights will be off during the day thus keeping the room cooler.

During veg pick the hottest part of the day, here is it 2-6 pm. Let your light come on at 6 and go off at 2 the next day. Getting rid of that time it heats the house up most.
