kindfarms. I am not trying to be redonedent but I am framing in some rooms today and setting up very similar set-up. I cannot wrap my head around not air cooling my lights. Later on today I will try to post sketch of what I am trying to do. I have an addition on this house so I do not have the luxury of having a straight run for my ducting either. That is proving to be quite the pain in my ass. I haven't even picked out a mini-split yet. I have the lighting for the one room, I am really tempted to buy Adjust-a-wings when I complete the other room.
and do your method but with the different reflectors. If I had the cash I would buy a big water chiller and set up the ebb n gro bucket system and chill the res and get 4-8" ice boxes for the lights. Damn. That is exactly how I should do both rooms. Thanks guys.

what dont you understand about it man? the mini split cools the entire room i can put my hand 2 inches under a 1000 watt bulb and leave it there the entire 12 hours my lights are on without it getting hot... ill go take some pictures how mine is set up maybe you will understand it better.. and im not trying to be a dick or nething just trying to help you out man

I was kinda wondering about the non air cooled lights, i will lose 15% of light because of the glass if it saves me 50% on my power bill. I have not had my A/c on yet this year in the flower room . but I have a 800 cfm fan sucking all the hot air from my lights. acouple nights ago my Heater came on when my lights were on because the temp got to low.

my veg room has a non air cooled light and that thing heats the room up fast and i have troble keeping it cool.

This winter i am taking all the glass of my reflectors and heating the house,

i dont think you understand how energy efficient the mini-split systems are (im drawing less amps from the A/C unit than i was with all the fans that were cooling my lights to begin with) so there for im SAVING money on my electric bill... also the 15% of lumens that gets taken away is only when the glass is super clean with theres any dust on the bulb or on the lens which there will be unless you clean it everyday(even with dust filters on the end before the air goes through the lights) and that dust can knock down another 15% of lumens easy...also the best part of the mini split is that i set it to the temp i want it and it keeps it at that temp the entire time the lights are on then when they go off it drops 7 degrees and holds it at that temp till lights are on again

That's what it is. I don't understand how efficient the mini-split is. I don't think you are being a dick dude. Not at all. I am going to get 4 adjust-a-wings for my second room or 4 parabolic hoods and run a 24000 btu mini. In my other room i will run hydro and use a chiller to cool my res and raptors. Two completely different set-ups. It is going to be pretty sweet. Problem is that I have a seed collecting problem and I would like to run like 75 different strains, not 2.

The difference can be rather extreme. Room A) four 1000w air cooled over 96 plants was averaging .62 gpw for a total of 2480 grams. Room B) 7x 600w adjust a wings over 96 plants, same exact pheno as room A) was averaging .83 gpw for a total of 3486 grams for an extra 200 watts you can be getting an extra 1000g's . I will always air cool the room not the lights.

Tomorrow I am drawing diagrams and posting pics so you guys can see what I am doing and make sure I am not fucking up. This is a lot of money and work and I do not want to build this more than once. (again). lol.

dont you think it is going to look shady with 2 mini split compressors and a regular AC compressor for your house sitting outside?

you may want to attempt to soften the view w a shrub or some plastic garden lattice w/out intterupting airflow. these units are becoming more commonplace and I'm starting to notice more n more, especially around businesses tho. in the city I'd be concerned someone may gank the whole unit if it weren't bolted down, but you're right Hockey that possibly could draw unwanted attention. a worthwhile risk..

That is a good point. I look at houses with 2 or 3 greenhouses differently these days also. Takes a lot of planning to grow a forest to block those fuckers and yet welcome the sunshine.

probably if someone were to see them but i dont have neighbors and i do have some shrubs around them thats blocking the view of them from my driveway so somebody would have to be willing to walk into my back yard with my pittbulls (my dogs are extremely nice but they know what to protect) which most people wouldn't be willing to

also i am not really that sketched out about it im never over my limits and a cop needs a warrant to enter my house and if they do have a warrant then they can come in and see whats up.. i cant get in trouble when following the laws unless the DEA is knocking on my door which im not that dumb to bring attention from the feds..and way to small for them to fuck with

also growing pot under 99 plants wont go to federal court

What's stopping you from running a bunch of different strains?

I am trying to have two rooms so I can run one strain at a time in each room. Actually have enough of one strain to try to cure a jar for more than 2 days. lol. Canopy management, etc. I have other smaller set-ups and tents and shit so I can still run 5-6 strains at once but I don't think I want to run several strains in one room anymore.

It can be done quite easily if you want to try it. I have one flowering room, with 3 1000 watt setups on a 6 foot light rails, and I run 6 different strains .... 2 strains per row. Obviously you want have plants with similar flowering times under the same light, but canopy management isn't an issue if you use tomato cages or some other type of similar device.

It's actually been very easy to manage doing it this way. My only row that can become a bit of a task is with my Kali Mist. It's the only pure sativa that I run, and being a 14-16 week flower, I have to use stands to get a flat canopy for my other plants (Jillybean) that I have under the same light due to the stretchyness of the Kali Mist.

I have to have variety. I get sick of smoking on the same bud day after day! :-)

Funny you should say that. I just got my new order of Kali Mist and Jilly Bean 2 minutes ago. (Mosca C99BX and Dr Greenthumb G13 also)
