Could I plant in a shady woods spot and still get a harvest?

This question might sound stupid but I wanted to know if I plant them in the woods where there is a lot of shade but still sunlight will they grow good? I ask cuz flowering don't start till the leaves start to fall anyway and they will eve tally get atleast 4 hours of direct sunlight each day...

You will get 2 solid months, maybe 1 and 1/2, of growth, which will result in 3'-4' tall plants. The more sun, the better. I'd expect them to grow decently, provided you supply sufficient nutrients every so often. The maximum amount of sunlight, though, the better. Keep an eye out specifically on the color, light-medium green is what you want. Deep green is good too. Just keep an eye on the 'yellowing' factor. The lighter-green the more issues. If it goes yellow/brown, inspect your soils pH. Could be nutrient lock. (I've unsuccessfully dealt with that myself )

try your best to cut some branches without making a scene, and use good soil and some nutes. and see what happens. the more sunlight the better. makes for denser nuggets.

even the ambient light from the sun, in the shade of a tree... contains more intense par radiation than any one bulb can provide...

I agree with what everyone else said. You will get a harvest, but it obviously won't be as much as if you grew in a well lit area. I've grown in an area with just a few hours of direct sunlight before and it did better than I would have guessed. Nothing spectacular though.

idk about that, the plants i have that get good direct sun, more have sexed out already there, while my plot that gets the least direct sun, only one has shown sex, not sure if theres logic to it, or completely random, but thats what ive observed. my thinking is that more direct sun = better faster growth, allowing ur plants to sex out faster given they have optimal light, where the ones with less direct light grow slightly slower, and inturn sexing later. this is my theory atleast, as i said could be completely random

As said above, the ambient light in the shade is more than enough to keep them from flowering. You'd need long periods of almost total dark to start flowering.

I varied it up last year, but one plant i put in on the edge of a small clearing kinda under some higher up branches. It got direct sun from like 11-3 every day, lots of small buds and the plant looked like it had stretched a bit. Better than i thought, but i sacrificed some growing power for security
More direct sunlight the better, but as long as its not 100% shaded it will grow.

Last year I planted about 80 in my lower garden that was kinda shady. It only got direct sun for 2-3 hrs a day. And a few hundo more up top in areas that werent shaded. The lower garden all started to flower and while up top did not! Try to get them to turn back to veg for a month or 6 weeks but to no avail. So i jus let them do their thing. Same soil, nutes, and strains in both areas .... only thing different was the light. The lower didnt go into full out flowering until i gave up on it. But it was obvious it was flowering. I talked to quite a few growers last that had that happen tho.

Agreed. I am growing 4 in semi shade right now as I do every year. They produce a decent crop. I got over 3 oz from each one this spring. I live in Fl so I start indoors and then flower while the days are still short. Anyway, well worth the effort.

4 is sufficient but far from ideal. I once planted in what I thought was partial sun in April, only to find NO sun come June after the tree leaves reached full size/filled in. So the plants stayed there all summer in the shade, I didn't even bother checking them until harvest. Upon my return I was surprised to find mature buds...but yield was a scant 1/4 ounce/plant.
As for falling leaves, that's an old cannabis wives tale when the reality is some growers fail to provide adequate N during flowering.

When is that direct 4 hours?...it isn't going to help you much if it's from 6-10AM.

Thanks for all the responses everyone... I've made a decision to put them in 5 gallon pots and put them where the sun is best and move them to more lit spots when the trees grow more...
