Plushberry is TGA's Black Cherry Soda x Space Queen ( http://tgagenetics.com/strain2.php?id=12 )
Plushberry was the first offering of a Kush variety from Subcool Seeds. Plushberry was also the first TGA strain I popped due to its 20/80 indica leaning genetics and BCS parentage, a combination I simply had to check out.
We popped 5 beans and got 3 strong females that were grown out in 10 gallon SmartPots with Sunshine Mix4 soil (plus perlite) and BotaniCare nutes at 75% strength.
These 3 Plushberry were not run as 1 gallon testers first like I usually do. They skipped right to 10 gallon SmartPots due to circumstance so we had no idea what to expect. Once they hit bloom it was obvious that we had 2 main phenotypes, #2 and #3 are extremely similar (most likely BCS dom) while #5 is the different one (most likely Space Queen dom). I made a pretty big mistake by not controlling my canopy and understory properly and paid for it with smaller, less developed buds than we like to grow. Our Plushberries went wild, needing much staking up to control their growth. I would recommend heavy pruning early to direct the energy exactly where you want it with the Plushberry. Next run we will absolutely prune heavier than normal for our garden, I think it is what the Plushberry needs to produce to its potential.
Plushberry smells absolutely amazing throughout bloom and really kicks it in while hanging to dry. I have never smelled anything so sweet, it was almost overpowering. I love the Plushberry smell.
Let's see some images and the details...
-----------------------
Plushberry #2: aka Wild Child #1. The explosive growth of this pheno was incredible and I was not prepared for it. I left way too much growth on the plant at the start of bloom and the overall success suffered accordingly. Still an amazing plant but in no way grown to its potential. The aroma is intense and just gets better with cure, like sweet candy when you open the jar. The taste mirrors the aroma, just not as intense. Resin crystals coat all surfaces. The high is clear sailing. PB#2 is a possible keeper...
Day 36:
Day 49: resin, color, aroma...
Day 56: getting closer...
Day 63: finish
RESULTS:
Plushberry #2: yield: 346g / m[SUP]2[/SUP] or 173g / plant
LAB RESULTS:
-----------------------
Plushberry #3: aka Wild Child #2. Just like PB#2, this pheno has incredible growth, overspilling its space and needing to be staked up and managed. Again, I did not manage it properly and the buds suffered accordingly. This pheno should be aggressively thinned on its way to flower so that the energy is directed to the colas. Not as sweet smelling as PB#2 but just as resinous with a smooth, clear high. PB#3 is probably our 3rd choice for keeper...
Day 36:
Day 49: resin production, a TGA hallmark
Day 56: closer...
Day 63: finish
RESULTS:
Plushberry #3: yield: 300g / m[SUP]2[/SUP] or 150g / plant
LAB RESULTS:
-----------------------
Plushberry #5: aka Killer Nugz. She is absolutely brilliant, glimmering with sticky resins. Definitely showing the Space Queen influence, PB#5 took off towards the ceiling, forming brilliant, tricomb coated, multi hued, golf ball sized nugz that smelled so sweet from start to finish. Staking out was crucial for this pheno as she simply could not support the weight of her killer nugz. Again, better thinning pre flower would result in a much nicer finish.
Day 36:
Day 49: resin, aroma, color, all kicking it hard here
Day 56: closer...
Day 63: finish
RESULTS:
Plushberry #5: yield: 346g / m[SUP]2[/SUP] or 173g / plant
