i'd have to agree with catmando. I say put a couple in it and watch the magic.... or demise.... it could go either way obiviously but i sure would jump at the chance to try it. could be some of the most fertile soil you've ever grown in. i wouldnt worry too much about chemicals and what not..

the point of organics besides using natural ecology to promote growth, is to have only organic waste and not chemical waste. yes it could grow some of he best bud in the world, but it may contain uranium. (example)

what yall think about using dirt from the bottom of a somewhat swampy pond I herd its sopouse to be real rich and if I where you I would try it on one plant first unless its too sandy of course but you'd only fuck up one plant the rest will be fine

Right I use promix right now I just heard before that the dirt in ponds is good for growing though I'm sure you can buy better organic potting soils and even make subcools super soil if only they sold some good organic mixes around here there aint even a hydro store around here its a 2 1/2 hour drive but they do have fox farm soil just better bring a shoping list to long of a drive to forget something

the Grande is filthy. using some pond muck as part of your mix is okay. it will certainly be alive....lol. just make sure it drains well. no more than a 1/4 of the whole mix, imo. i use peat, perlite, and poop as a base soil. cheap as .....dirt

sounds good probally try it out on one or two to see how good it works plenty of snapper and fish shit maybe get lucky enough to scoop up some beaver shit lol tons of snappers I've caught 4 laying thier eggs this year and atleast two other nests

I would depend on how far down you from Elephant Butte Res. The farther away the more runoff gets into the river and the better the sediment is. Bad news is the closer you get to Las Cruces the more the DEA and Border Patrol are going to be a problem for you. The Grande is a major illegal immigration and drug trafficking corridor. So the fuzz keep a pretty good eye on it. And with as twitchy as those guys are... they don't need much, if any, "probable cause" to conduct a search. If you are going to try and collect some of it to take home. Make damned sure you, your help and your vehicle are 100% clean.
That being said. With the availability of all the base components you need to make your own kick ass soil. Why bother? Make your own and you know what's in it. The last I heard the NMGF advise against eating fish caught in the lower Rio Grande due to an assortment of things including abnormally high concentrations of mercury.
