Minimum wage

Here we go, again. Raise it to $10/hr. Why stop there? Why not make it $100/hr?
This ought to stimulate the economy. :wall:

No adult citizen in the United States should make less than a living wage in their area working a 40 hour job. If the borders are ever truely sealed then wages should be free to fluctuate with the supply and demand of labor, until then we need a minimum wage.

I gotta say, I think you stole my idea. Only my idea came with an Obama mandated countrywide workers union. That way you get the $100/hr. and Obenefits.

Oh here is an idea. Let us abolish minimum wage all together! There are 5 million people out of work. What compay (mine included) wouldn't like to pay their employees 3 bucks an hour? Hell, THAT would get everyone back to work, right? After all, companies could afford to retain three times the workers they employ now right?

... and that would be...?????
I think he's saying that if everyone was paid above average, then the NEW average would be higher.
That would put some people under the average, then they would need raises.
After these new raises, it would raise the New average.
This would go on forever until the AVERAGE price of bread is $500 a loaf, and rising.
Not to worry though, the government can mandate raises for everyone for infinity.

LOL!

Ironically, that's where we are now. If it weren't for people going back to work part time or for much lower pay, the unemployment rate would be 14%.

The market determines wages just fine. There is no use for minimum wage other than a political use.

Yeah, I get it, no one will be able to afford that new flat screen because it will cost two years income - a head of lettuce will be two hours wages, by the way, salary and wages are only a minor portion of the cost of most items today. I will be able to pocket the difference and go away a very happy man, never mind that my employees will have to rely on the very government supports you folks object to. Ford had it right when he put together his auto factories, but you see, most businessmen are not as forward thinking. Kinda like Walmart.

So long as our border leaks, average wage will continue to decline. Take a look at countries with no minimum wage and no government supports and you will inevitably see third world conditions. This is what you are advocating.

You can't mandate wage anymore than you can mandate weather. Read the wiki article on "marginal revenue product of labor."

its not quite that simple....the economy is a very fragile and delicate thing....what should happen is people with lower incomes should hardly be taxed at all and the rich should be taxed up the wazzoo,i mean how much money do you really need?

LOL![/QUOTE]

At first i thought, Nah $10- thats impossible it must be an exaggeration...
So i looked, and holy shit... All over the country places are raising the minimum wage to at and some even over $10-...
Here in NY there only raising it to $8.50, but still thats a 1.25 increase.... If people think that employers are going keep the same amount of labor when all of the sudden they have an increase of $3- per worker in some instances, they're dreaming...
Company's are going to continue to downsize, and stop hiring new workers... So how does this help the economy?

Thats how it already is....
~60% taxes = Out the wazoo to me.... Anymore and id stop paying....
