correction: I meant a man masquerading as a woman. I had a brain fart.

Today my new swamp cooler arrived by UPS (I think the UPS guy likes me). I have not been able to grow indoors during the summer due to the heat and problems with an adobe structure and venting. It's portable and, so far, works like a dream. Not only will it cool the grow room but it adds humidity. With a humidity of 6% this will come in handy. I have Bubblelicious and NY Power Diesel on standby. I also purchased a digital microscope that does pics as well as video. I'm excited. I think I peed a little bit....

I KNOW I peed a little bit. Swamp coolers are a revelation to one who grew up in the freaking tropics of the Mid'Lannic. Now of course, I live in the land that dries your air before you get it. cn

just saw the correction. lol

I think I brought this up before. I was in a very humid area for the first time in my life. I was in my twenties. Didn't even know humidity was different in different areas. Someone offered me some hot tea. When they poured the tea, the steam from the cup went all the way to the ceiling. I was fascinated. Around here you're lucky if you see the steam at all. Everyone was laughing at me because I was amazed by it. I even boiled a pot of water to watch the steam hit the ceiling.

I also ended up with heat stress and was in bed for a couple of days. My body couldn't take the heat plus humidity. That was the first and only triathlon I competed in back east. I finished, though. :)

I can ride all day through 110ºF temps wearing reasonable protective gear. But hoooo doggies, riding through 98º in East Texas made me start to hallucinate. I found a soda place in some one-pump crossroads amongst the cottonfields and drank a spectacular amount of Diet Coke. Central Texas was so cool (figuratively, of course). In a hundred miles the landforms went from "obvious Eastern" to "obvious Western".
I visited the real tropics once, and even when i was young and had an awesome area-to-volume ratio, I was bloody wet all day at about 80º. Humidity makes breathing effortless, but heat exchange if you aren't absolutely.still. can be a cadmium-plated motherfondler. cn

Aspen shavings. Apparently there's a brand of evap. cooler that uses 2-inch-thick foam and is MUCH more efficient. i need to research that if I ever get to buy my own house. cn

If you live in an area with a lot of Cottonwood trees you change them out several times a summer. It's a pain in the ass. :(

I wonder how foam would do with cottonwood fluff.

I believe those are the Master Cooler brand. They are quite effective too. Oh yes, and of course, they aren't cheap.

Today my new swamp cooler arrived......snip....
Could I get information on that cooler? I've been thinking about one.
