....Geezers don't mind the boonies so much. All I need/want at my age is cable,A/C.,water, and a grocery within about 12 miles or so, If you've ever been called "Nature Boy" you get it totally.

Put black cloth (the shit the nursery's use) over the canopy of your plants. This will reduce the heat factor immensely, your plants will concentrate on on THC production instead of survival.

aside from this giant shade tent? i dont. its an outdoor grow. i had a mist system around my porch and took it down recently so i put that in the tent just so it wasnt laying around. ive used misters in the past and it left calcium all over my leaves, but this time i mounted them much higher. also, my neighbor was just telling me about a pre-filter they have a home depot for about $6 that will stop that from happening, so im gonna check that out too. its about 10 degrees cooler under the shade alone and the water really cools it down, but the temp rises again 5-10 minutes after you shut it off

- I am in Palm Springs. Last year I planted about 12 seeds I had been saving. Three plants made it, good stuff but buds turned brown just at harvest. This year I planted a variety of clones and all seem to be really doing well. They are well irrigated, the only "food" I add is miracle grow that sprays on thru a hose. Should I get some shade cloth? Any other ideas will be most welcome. I'm growing to provide medicine for my wife and myself and a friend (all seniors) so a super high yield isn't critical.

I will have to see about getting some of this shade cloth. I just put 4 outside for my first outdoor grow. They are shaded by lots of large trees and so far seem to be coping with the heat just fine.

As noted in the outdoor section, tomorrow is the summer solstice so days will be getting shorter from now on.
Right around 4/20 I recieved 2 Jilly Bean clones from irieie. I put 1 in a 10 gallon container outside, but it tried to flower then re-veg and never really made it so I yanked her the other day.
The other clone was put into a 3 gallon container and has been vegging just fine for 2 months now, shes about 2 ft tall and 3 ft wide and has provided plenty of clones or she'd be bigger. I transplanted her into a 7 gallon grow bag 5-6 days ago then decided she was too big for indoors and would not create an even canopy (especially with the big stretch irieie told me about). So i moved her and 2 clones outside on monday night, and she was feeling the heat yesterday, but looks like she grew 3-4 inches overnight and is lovin life right now! clones didn't even flinch.

I would stop on your green house dude. Just take the plastic off and chill for a month or at least until August.. It's monsoon season brother and only getting worse. The monsoon storms coupled with rain and high winds is gonna fuck your green house up. That plastic liner is gonna go bye bye in the wind. I dont know though I have never grown in a green house but I would think the thunderstorms this month and next month would mess things up for you.ive been trying to get more work done................but its just too fuckin HOT!!!!! very unmotivating. anyway, here a little more.

ive have pretty bad storms the last three days, yesterday was the worst, and i watch it for a while when it gets windy to make sure. its shade cloth not plastic so it is breathable. you're right though when its 30 ft long its gonna catch some wind. my original plan was to brace all the top corners with a board at 45 deg, but it still swayed quite a bit. so i took all that off and drilled two holes into the block wall right there, then put those little plastic plugs in the holes and anchored it with a 2.5 inch screw. that was absolutely the way to go, this thing is rock solid. as long as i dont get a flying palm frond or something that would stab through, it should be ok

You may already know this but make sure you use cardboard on top of the plastic before you staple it. Just cut long strips about 4 inches (same as your 2x4) wide and staple the living daylights out of that to keep it from ripping and you did get the wood off the ground, didnt you?
Nice setup. That plant is looking awesome especially knowing the heat it endures. You should put that one in the ground. It will help regulate the temperature in the root zone better. I was just up north this past weekend and we finally got all our plants in the ground. They looked much happier and as long as the get tons of water the are taking off.

the shade cloth is secure, trust me. 2 boxes of 1250 staples. its not coming up unless it rips.
no it is sitting on the ground. thats the higher corner in my yard and we dont get much rain in az so it will be fine.
everything in the yard is made from wood and nothing has deteriorated yet after 4 years.
thanks irieie, ive been impressed with her tolerance, especially in a black plastic bag. im right there with ya, i dug a huge hole last night (25-30 gal pot size, i might widen it still) and will be headed to homegrown for more soil in an hour or so.

Glad to see you got it out of the black trash grow bags. She will appreciate it. I can see her smiling already. Mound the dirt higher under neath the plant so there is more soil. Otherwise your gonna have lots of sand and silt wash into your root area, specially when the rains come. Will choke the oxygen right out of your soil, hate sand. Did you do a drainage test to see how long it took for the holes to drain? Out here by my neck of the woods it takes 8+ hours for a 3x3 hole like that to drain. So be careful with watering, don't want to drown her. Next time rough up the whole more on the sides. Don't make it so bowl like. The plants like it rough lol. Looking good though. Nice structure for a grow.
