Had a long talk with my father

About medical marijuana. It's getting to the point that mom needs appetite stimulants. So we're discussing giving her edibles. The pain is unbelievable. Being devout Mormons they are balking at the idea of using marijuana. It won't be much longer for her. :(

Ya'll, cherish your mothers and tell them every day that you love them. You never know when it's going to be the last, "I love you." She's a tough old bird and has been through a lot. I have never known her to complain or despair. She just says she's thankful for the pain because now she knows what HER mother went through. My poor old dad doesn't know what to do. They have never been apart during their entire marriage. Every time she went to the hospital he slept on a cot or in a chair by her side. Every night. An old cowboy and his mestizo wife. LOL I love those old fossils. :)

Sorry to hear that. It was depressing seeing my dad suffer when my grandma died a few years ago. Even if they dont agree, you should sneak some edibles in there, it could probably do alot of good. I think thats what Joseph Smith was doing when he was lying his ass off to the world, either that or PCP.

Really? I talk about my parents and what my mom is suffering and you feel the need to attack my faith?

youre words just brought a lump to my throat and brought up some old emotions. ive lost a lot of people. my dad all my granparents . and a baby girl. so youre words do ring true. i wish youre mother all the best and many happy days to came with you. youre sound a good person and i send my deepest of respects to you and youre family and mams there special you only get one. and the sad ironic thing about life is. if you lose a tv a car youre faith ect you can replace that. but qaiutly time with the ones we love once its gone its gone. i missed a lot of my sons early years and theres nothing i can do to get this back. so value and cherish every moment

The worst part is watching her slip away a little each day. Her memory is all mixed up and she is so confused. The trouble is, she knows it and tries her hardest to act like everything is fine. I spend a lot of my evenings crying to myself. I love that old bat. She's a saint. She sacrificed a lot for us and never once complained. I pretend like I don't notice but she knows. We laugh a lot. I make sure of that. She is so scared. It breaks my heart. :(

Carne - You could always try using some quotes from the Bible to back your opinion.

For example - "And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat."

It not a sin to ease the suffering of a loved one.

My wishes and prayers go out for your Mother and family.

Thank you so much :)

I tried that. I even used the argument that Kaneh Bosum is Cannabis mentioned in the bible. The trouble with that is they're both scriptural scholars and can debate circles around me when it comes to theology. AND. They love to argue. It's like living with two Jewish Rabbis. LOL My dad is starting to come around but mom is still adamant. No means no. I would never go against her wishes. :(

My mom had 4 heart attacks and 5 strokes, so I understand the fading away. My dad died from a disease similar to black lung.

The one good thing about long illnesses is it gives you a chance to say all the things you want to. I was able to tell them how much I loved them, and then have the time to show it.

I told them how they made my childhood fantastic, that they gave me a strong sense of right and wrong and so much more. I believe you have done the same thing. Bittersweet.

My heart and prayers are with you and your family.

Thank you for understanding. I bless and curse each day that I have with her. Blessed because she is still with me and cursed that she has to suffer so much.

I am very sad to hear the news about your mom. I had a father figure which was my girlfriends dad get cancer and I grew up with his whole family ( my mid teen years) and watch while no one came and watch as his sons rather go smoke and bs then spend time with him. I stayed there ever day to make sure my friend had someone to look after him when my girl worked. Those talks we had were priceless and the hardest thing I have ever experienced. To look at and talk to someone who knows there going but still fighting is heartbreaking. He left us for Greener pastures. My heart is with you Carne Seca + rep for the difficult time
you are going through now. I have been there and I wish that I no one. Peace ps Sorry for rambling in your thread .

I hope you can work something out with your dad, I would do anything for my mom. Are mormons really that strict on weed? My uncle's fiancee is mormon and she smokes all the time.

My heart goes out to you and your family.

You know, Carne, I had the same feelings. You and I would not want to go through what has happened to her, I know this. But it will not make her passing easier. It took me years before I could look at a photo of my Mom without crying.

I thought I had made my peace about it and then when she was gone. I wasn't ready at all, you never are.

I hope that when she's gone she is able to talk to you in your dream. I have a feeling she will.

i'm sorry. i have no words of wisdom. just sending love and prayers. LOL at arguing with 2 rabbis
oy vey! That woman can tie you in knots when it comes to the scriptures. She pulls stuff out of her ass that scares me to death. She is completely convinced (and convinced me in the interim) that Jesus was married to Mary Magdalene and can back it up biblically. She also believes that Lilith was originally a representation of God's wife and was later corrupted by foreign male dominated tribal customs which completely changed the dynamics of Semitic society. (deep breath) God's wife being an equal deity to God himself. Early Semitic writings allude to a female co-deity that was later written out of the texts.

It's all too much for me. We debate back and forth but I never win. Evil woman. :p

I hope all goes as well as it can for you and your father.
You both need to stay strong and assure Mom that the 2 of you will be there for each other later.
I'll pray for your family, stay strong.
