Dude, hip hop is dead. Rapping is about flowing and telling a story. Thats why its considered poetry. Do you hear these new artists? All they do is keep giving one-liner punchlines over and over to a played out beat. Nobody even stays on topic, thats why songs dont even have topics anymore.

People are into power and fame now. They like to hear these artists make it big. They like the culture it brings to (drugs and "hot bitches").. It's just what they do.

I agree though.. Music is and should be meaningful.

I don't give a shit about politics or celebrities.. I only watch adult swim every once in a while..

But I don't think it's dumb for people to keep tabs on celebrities just like I don't think it's dumb for people to have a favorite sports player.

Some people like to keep tabs on intelligent people because they like what they have to say. So what's wrong with following a "star" if the fan likes them?
Example: I like nirvana because kurt cobain has some pretty cool views on some subjects. I decided to look further into his music to hear more of his philosophy. Turns out the dude blasted his brains out.. What's wrong with knowing that? I mean I don't really care for the dude since I've never met him, but I do find his views interesting.

theres a line here that is very clear...
following an intelligent person for me would be reading their writings, listening to sound bites, watching educational clips.... not wondering who they are dating or what their family is doing or what diseases they have or being curious about their feuds with people..

but thats what people are doing to celebrities..
watch their movies and shows and read their books!!
