Death penalty for weed.

How could you even relax enough to consider the UAE a vacation spot?
I read an article about a guy who went on vacation there and got arrested and held up for 2 weeks because he fell asleep on public transport (a long train ride to be exact).
Their laws are just too strict, and they dont really seem to have any sympathy for people who many not share their cultural views.

No that wasn't my point you presumptuous twat.

If you weren't blinded by your own ingornace you would see my point which is obviously too complex for a simpled minded person such as yourself to understand. You have the honor of being the first person on my ignore list because I can't explain something to you if you have appreciation for a society and culture that believes they are still living during the medieval crusades.

Actually Shannon makes a good point. Medieval is irrelevant. The duty devolves onto the guest to observe the customs of the host land. That is a principle universal to societies across time and geography. cn

It's not as if I'm making a point to go to another country and defy their laws no matter how ridiculous. My intention of bringing that story is just to show an example of how our laws and safety procedures are attempted to be cast aside for the sanctity of their personal, cultural, and religious values.

I forgot all of you like to dick ride so I suppose I shouldn't have said anything.

I saw no attempt to cast aside our safety procedures. An incident does not indicate a policy. So I am having trouble grasping your point here. The example seems like a straw man.

And the dick ride comment is impolite in any country. cn

Then perhaps you should read the article instead of developing the smart ass comments you are so attached to.

The article you posted the link to is a safety issue, pure and simple. Apparently it escalated into a scuffle when "someone touched a woman".
My take on it is the park was concerned with the safety aspect of it and the group visiting the park took the regulations personally and the following quote from the article illustrates that at the very least Mr/Ms Sharif Aly is thinking rationally.

"Sharif Aly, vice president of the Muslim American Society of New York, said that the organization planned to investigate what happened before drawing any conclusions."

My understanding of their safety regulations from the article is that even an Alabama Redneck could not wear his Crimson Tide ball cap.

And inflammatory name calling proves/solves nothing my friend.
