i love C99. it was the first strain i ever grew to completion and even bred for too. i had joey weed's version which was very low odor and a little grapey/fruity like a haze under the halide in the pic below. most of the plants, especially the taller ones were C99. the buzz from JW's version leaned more towards clear headed and motivational along the lines of kali mist. it's not the best strain for relaxing on, but great for activities and JW's version was just a 45 day strain making it a virtual cash cropper, only that doesn't smell like skunk ass or get you tired.

i think apollo 11 is probably a better strain. it's supposed to be mellower and trippier. sadly, it appears thatit will be some time before bodhi replaces his stolen clone. that's at the top of my shopping list, but i DID hit everything in my last grow up with JW's C99 xA11 before that vanished last year including this super cali haze x C99 that turned out nice and fruity.

SCH x C99.jpgfruity booty closeup.jpg
i called her "fruity booty".

i REALLY have high hopes for sativa trans-love x (C99 x A11). the STL is a wicked fast flowering strain that finishes slower than C99 maybe, but when fruity booty was just starting to flower here, STL was budding and leaving everything in the dust except my little skunk kush autos. the speedy flowering of STL combined with the fast finishing of C99 & A11 should produce something nice for indoor grows and be reasonably fruity. that's the start of my own personal "cash cropper" holy grail, but trippy ass jack's cleaner 2 is at the top of my "quality control" grow. that crossed with crazy potent haze skunk should be really nice.

it's cool to see at least SOME people out there are growing gear other than same old same old stoner bud just in novel new flavors. C99 is a great strain to smoke, if not just before bed, and about 10,000% better a start for speeding up and shrinking IBLs than afhani as it won't pollute them with funk or stone. i still hope that some of my haze skunk x C99 beans are viable. that should be a really nice strain to smoke as the HS is super potent, reasonably trippy, and has enough stone that it should calm C99 down and the C99 should speed things up and improve the haze skunk's cheesy cigar wrapper taste that isn't a favorite.

i tell ya, if you REALLY want to cross C99 with a nice haze, DNA's sweet haze is clearly above average and makes nice fruity sticky juicy buds. i bet the cross would be even better than with super cali haze as i think it's a faster finisher, if a little bit stretchy. i can't wait to test sweet haze x cindy apollo.

keep the strain alive. it's always hovering close to extinction and was off the market a little while a couple years ago when JW's stock dried up and mosca hadn't jumped in with his potent pineapples. it's a really good strain to stem the tide of afghani knockoffs.

to the person that loves C99, some day, try kali mist. it's a 17 week strain, but it's even better, though FORGET even thinking about sitting down on that one

jack's cleaner 2 x cindy apollo ought to be some crazy fun shit and then some too. at just 9 weeks for the JC2 with a super nice trippy high, it should be way better than skunk #1 ever dreamed of being and low odor too.

i also have malawi x cindy apollo too that i'm eager to test drive. i can't think of a much better combo if the malawi lives up to it's reputation

i've always gotten my hemp depot orders too. at one point, their joey weed C99s were the ONLY C99s you could get until mosca and femaleseeds and even nirvana jumped in recently. the snail mail ordering is a little slow, they don't give freebies, and most oftheir strains are high end $$$ gear, but they send you what you paid for and change their packaging up from time to time.

orders from ANYWHERE can get seized. it's a roll of the dice.

Hempdepot.ca had Joey Weed stock up until around a year ago. He was doing C99 F2's or F3's. I forget exactly.

Hard to suggest you support Gypsy the psychopath and owner of Seed Boutique, but I think there are some genetics you can only get from that site.

i have never had an issue getting what i paid for from the bou, although i've heard all the stories.. sometimes you have to bite the bullet to get the things you want in this world..

Yeah, I hear you, but there are a lot of other great sites to choose from, and at the same time, he's a total dick. Just do a youtube search for gypsy nirvana I'm pretty sure the video is not hard to find where he shows what an unbelievable and incredible dick he really is. Also Monsanto Sam is a huge supporter of that site. I really couldn't in good conscious give them any of my money knowing the kind of folks they are. David Watson (Sam Skunkman) is on record saying he doesn't want anyone to be able to reproduce genetics... ever. Prefer they herm and are uncloneable (quote from a hemp conference in Vancouver in 97 I believe). He flat out lies and makes shit up (ie: I am the breeder of X & X) because he wants to patent the genetics. Patent nature... right. Assholes.

There's the video. Truly a socio/psychopath.

Hey Guys, have any of you ever grown out Dr. Greenthumbs C99? I bought some last year. The seeds didn't look very ripe, some of the ones that sprouted were pretty weak. I did get one healthy plant that had an amazing smell, it smelled just like Mountain Dew or a citronella candle, really strong, but the day before I cut her down the smell went away.

Anyone have this experience? Did I do something wrong?

hey, how did you buy that?!!! i tried to buy his potent pineapple cindy a few times a couple years ago and could only find a blog at his website.

i used to talk to him way back in the overgrow days. i'm not sure, but i think i contributed an opinion on his growing that over apollo 11 as i didn't like the sound of ANY couchlock, and erred on the side of racy.

if you really want to boost your viability, get a humidity dome and a heating mat. i'm pretty sure cool room temps were the culprit behind crappy germ rates across the board with previously 100% strains from multiple breeders last year.

Well, all I did was call him up after looking at his website. Eventually I got seeds in the mail in a regular envelope. It may have been late 2010, that was a lot of plants ago.
I agree with you on the humidity dome and heating mat. I always use it for seeds and clones with wet perlite to keep the humidity up and a CFL for light. I take the dome off after all the seeds have sprouted but leave the heated pad on till I plant them in pots. I used soiless mix and squeeze most ofthe water out, then fluff it a little and put it into small cups with seeds taht I soeak overnight.

I looked at Dr. Greenthum's site the other day and he still has his fem C99. I think the price went down too. I think it was 200 USD the time I looked before, now it's 150 USD. When I bought them I think they were 100 USD after being sold out for a long time. I suspect I would have had better results if I had grown them outside. A friend of mine is growing some outside that came from my plant. I'll ask him how they are doing outside.

Here is a picture of one of the seeds that I didn't plant and some others for comparison. When you pay top dollar for seeds, the guys that sell them shouldn't mind if people share info about what they got. I have to say, thet even thoug the seeds looked funny, they produced some awsoem smelling plants. I just wish I had harvested them before I lost the smell.

I remember exaclty when I bought those seeds now. It was right after his C99 made the High Times top ten and as soon as he had seeds available. I bought C99 fro the Doc and CannaSutra from Attitude. The CannaSutra was stretchy, but incredible.

all of my joey weed BXes were on the pale side, but i harvested early thinking they were mature.

i'm really keen to try bodhi's apollo 11 genuis though. i already have a few C99 crosses as well as C99 x A11 crosses too, so i'm good on that. it's a great strain for activities, but i like the kind of strain you can trip out to tunes or movies on better. A11 issupposed to be mellower and trippier. that, and super silver haze were considered the 2 best indoor trippy strains back around '05.

the first C99s i bought actually were spice brothers' C99 splash (25% insane cambodian IBL). i wish i was able to resist the urge to get high when i had those beans and my kali mists too, though i still have 1 KM i'm saving.

it would be so awesome to have to have the space for a mother room. i've only played around with cloning a couple times just to see if i could root strains and didn't have enough leaf material i think when i tried early cloning a few strains this spring.

keep growing C99 all and keep your eyes open for A11g. i imagine i'll buy that as soon as it goes back in stock as i imagine the lines are growing

i've never grown drgt's c99, but i'm growing his sour 13 atm, and have also grown his og kush, ghost cut, and also his dopes for a test grow for him a few years ago..
i've never had any issues germing his gear either, so i'm not sure what's up with that.. the sour 13 seems to be a super slow vegger, but it's starting to come along finally..

dr gruber is a member on here who does tons of grows of drgt's gear and usually always does a gj or a smoke report along the way as well.. he might be a bit biased, but i think that's only because he's always gotten great results with his gear..

loving the gear you grow is a perfectly acceptable excuse to be biased. the scene would be a lot better if more growers really put love in their gear instead of investment status.
