carbon filter the pot room and grow catnip in your windows here and there...nobody will ever wonder what the smell is, especially if they touch or bump into one of the nip plants...
The problem with smell control is that you get used to a smell overtime and just won't smell it... With all the catnip I know it doesn't smell like pot...it couldn't possibly...no way... and my cats love it...
Also the catnip thing might be weird if you don't have a cat...but they are literally everywhere... so take in a homeless cat and become a catnip farmer and nobody will ever wonder...

and uhhh Poly, man, there are always cheaper ways of doing things...I mean you can buy a land rover, or a honda, but they both get you from place to place, albeit one might get you there better...they both do the trick...

For everything totally awesome and kick ass that someone sells there is someone that sells something cheaper and kick ass but not super kickass like the more expensive version, but for real, the duct fan is super quiet, whereas I "hear" that those more powerful more expensive inline fans make a terrible racket...

Another cheap option is the $13 bathroom fans from HD/LOWES. They are designed to handle a bit of static pressure and perform well in those conditions. Great for DIY filters.

you got me fucked up you just threw that shit together. lol, im just kidding. i dont know how that reduces affects CFM rating i guess i would have to come feel it but i dont know how well thats scrubbing the air missnu. a 6" duct fan is 30-40$ an 4" inline is 60$ i ll take the one that doesn't slow down and was built for the purspose personally

but shit its not the first time ive been proved wrong, doesn't mean im changing anything but it does give me a new respect for the power of and axial fan.

talking about a squirrel cag fan, yeah they work good with smaller filter, and they move a ton of air, bad thing is they get HOT. i would use one of these b4 i used an axial for a filter. just sayn

Yea it has a similar design as a squirrel cage blower but of course cheaper. They use about 50 watts and have a plastic wheel inside with a 3" outlet.

The pressure of the air is measured in cfms...so none of that right there makes sense...180 cfm is 180 cfm...

Amazon has the 50 cfm for $13 shipped and a 90 cfm for $25 shipped. The 90 cfm can probably handle a static pressure load better and would actually be quieter.

Well there is that one duct fan there, and then another just a little way past that exhausting the air further being pulled...there is a hole in the top of tent that feels like a blow dryer and doesn't smell like pot, so I can assure you it is working...lol. Everything is 6 in...I have 3 6 in. 160 cfm inline duct fans in there...one blowing across the light, and then 2 in the exhaust tubing...

When the central air first kicked on, prior to installing the filter and fans, it would smell like pot for a minute...and also the room the tent was in was pretty smelly...since the fan/filter I can leave my door open and the rest of the house not stink...so it has to be working...nor do you get a pot blast when the air kicks on...

hey whatever works what was i gonna say yeah your right about cfm are cfms. but pressure can be different when pulling the air with a fan, the air in turn pulls on the fan blades, centrifugal fans have both the advantage of weight on the blades and a more powerful motor.

I tried using a duct fan on my first grow, yeaaaa, not so good. I'm using a 4" inline rated at 200cfm and a mountain air 4" carbon filter. Couldn't be happier, nor do I have the worries that I did on my first go at it. When I pop open the tent it's pretty strong but I can't even smell anything when I'm in the same room when it's closed. Neither can my wife who doesn't smoke or go into my room often. Piece of mind shouldn't be overlooked and underpriced.

I tried one of those. The largest one they had was a whisper quiet 300cfm bathroom fan. I put a charcoal filter over the intake hole & it didnt work worth a crap. Didnt even take care of the heat let alone the smell. The inline fan was the only thing that worked for me. Actaully, I see they have 4" ones at Princess Auto for less than $30 Hell, get a couple. \

Here are the updated filter photos. I've been using this set up for a couple years now. THe other one didnt work (the picture I attached earlier)

Its a 6" duct fan attached to a 6" Cana Filter. I have the 2 150 watt HPS security lights in the box. My temps run up to 82-83 at its peek. I have a thermometer that records current temps/humidity as well as lowest & highest for that day. I pull my replacement air out of the bottom of the box which comes across the garage floor so its pretty cool.

I have no issues at all with smell except when the filters not running. I fixed that today by plugging the fan into constant power instead of just coming on when the lights came on.

This really does work well. I tried the ghetto filters & making my own & all that stuff but this has wroked the best by far.

Im building another box, a little larger & neater (this was my first box I build a few years ago & never changed it.. Learned lots since then so time for updating ) & I will install 2 of these style fans & filters & Im going to put 4 150 watt HPS in the box. That gives me 600 watts total plus the fluoros if I choose to put them in the new box.

thats a pretty nice DIY setup you got there. 150w HPS x3 what kind of temps in there? hell i imagine with that kind of heat you have to be getting some airflow from that fan. i seed why your filter works though its a DIY one and very small at that. and i doubt you carbon is packed like the real filter, but on the othe rhand i can see that it works and well at that, and the smell reduction is probably pretty good with that setup.

but im thinking, you know like Can filter with a duct fan.... the way those filters are designed they would never work in conjunction with a duct fan. hell even the smallest size one i dont think would worth a duct but props man +rep

im puting together my grow room i already have a 400 hps when i put it on the temps get to high 80s so before i put anything in there im buying a 150mmA1 RVK Extractor Fan - 420m3/hr is this a inline fan or duct fan? and will this lower my temps and humidity? thanks in advance for any replies.
