How well will I root clones with this method?

I have a 150 gallon fish tank that stays at about 82-83 degrees in my room and the water evaporates out very fast.

I took 4 cutting today, 2 from one plant, 2 from another. I stuck them into water with in at least 10 seconds. They are currently under my fish tank in a compartment that gets no light. I am going to give them 24 hours of light (I heard roots take on faster this way) and in the morning I will put them into dirt and put them right on the top of my fish tank, where they would only receive indirect sunlight from the window next to it.

I feel like the humidity in my room is probably crazy high because of my huge ass fish tank, so if I left the cuttings on top of it they would basically be getting misted with water that is evaporating.

I am going to use NO humidity dome, NO rooting hormones. Basically I am doing the poor man method.

My question is, will this work??? I have seen people clone plants without rooting hormones and a humidity dome on this website, so I am guessing it would work for me.

Also how high do you think the humidity in my room is because of my 150 gallon fish tank? high enough for a cutting to take root?

why not buy some $4 rooting hormone from HD and take some 2 liter coke bottles cut in half for domes with make it hard and lose lots of clones

Its not 4 dollars, its 34 or 100 for the large bottle, on amazon its 10 bucks but I dont have time to wait 10 days...

I firmly believe clones need a dome, they don't have roots they need high humidity. Just sitting on top of you fish tank won't be enough, air circulation would not keep them in high humidity, yes you should use root hormone.

no doubt u got to plan for most success or u will lose half of every batch of clones u take if not all

Your doing it wrong if you firmly believe this, you should not be losing 50% of your clones.

Any cheap rooting hormone and regular room temp tap water should be enough to succesfully clone, re-examine your cloning procedures as something is not right if your losing that many.

I have cloned succesfully for years with a simple method,

1. cut clone with blade as sicssors usually are dull and will crush the clones stem while cutting
2. dip clone into tap water, then into rooting hormone (powder or gel as both work fine)
3. place clone in opaque cup of tap water

clones have roots in under 10 days. I since have built an aerocloner and can have rooted clones in 3 - 5 days

i use one cfl light a sterite tub with plexiglas over top and just cheap ass clone hormone and works everytime
it isnt hard
take clones every week

If you re-read my post you see the steps I posted were for simple cloning in a cup and not using an aerocloner.

Rootone or similar generic products can be found in any Ace Hardware, Home Depot, Do it Center,Lowes,Wal mart, Kmart etc. etc. In spring and summer is the time to buy it. I have found that rootone does fine. I use a large clear storage container for a humidity dome. $10 at Wally world.Holes can be drilled for ventilation , I just remove the top a few times each day.

I saw one guy that was using an interesting cloning method. He would take beer bottles fill em up with water and put the trimmings so the leaves were supporting the plant and keepin it from fallin into the bottle while the stem was dipped in the water, so ur way should work. But I've heard u can also use raw natural honey as sumptin to help cuttings root. I use a 50/50 mixture of perlite and vermiculite to root my clones works pretty well. But when I don't use a dome what I do is use a ziplock storage bag as a dome just put ur cutting in the bag, I cut a small corner off the bag for ventilation then seal the bag works well as a cheap dome. Or saw another good one take a clear plastic bottle cut it in half and make it into ur own lil greenhouse was pretty cool.

Dude you need to calm down and learn to walk before you try to run.I said you can use some holes for ventilitation.I dont use hole I lift the lid off every few hours.

Why, Why Why.........You get an answer and then you got 4 more questions.Like a 5 year old on his 1st trip to the theme park.

We can't do it all for you ,read a book or a few good grow threads..Get some rooting hormone, cloning doesn't happen to cannabis in nature,it's grower manipulation and yes hormones increase sucess rate.

I predict if you have one clone live with your plan it will be an act of God.
