Well, a county prosecutor cant charge him with a federal charge, but will he turn it over to the feds? Probably wont ever hear the final result..

ATF was there for the raid. They had this shit figured out long before the door was kicked. I am glad to hear it was ATF after illegal weapons and not DEA after legal meds.

Illegal because it was a medical patient growing, and also owned a hunting gun, or a medical patient with a stolen handgun? There's a difference...

My money is on it being illegal for reasons beyond medical marijuana. These people live on base, I would bet a tweaker snitched on them. I think a medical patient w/ firearm is grey area and ATF would NOT be present. They may look over report after though, but they wouldn't be there to offer initial beating.

I didn't see anything on the medical mj paperwork saying you couldn't have a gun. the atf form says if you unlawfully use or are addicted to it then you cant have one. so i don't see an issue and if was going to be a problem then they should have done something back in 08. we're 4 years in and 300,000 strong now.

I would keep my firearms in a certified gun safe. Not to be confused with a regular gun cabinet.
I believe that only a federal warrant can access a certified gun safe. So if is that the case, county and city police could take the safe but would not be allowed to open it without a federal warrant.
If you did get charged and all of your firearms were locked in a certified gun safe it sure would look better in the courtroom for you.
I recommend that everyone that owns firearms to store them in a certified gun safe.

I was a gun Nut well before I smoked anything. I have a gun safe and some of mine are in it. A locked safe did not stop LEO from stealing which ones they wanted last time. I did not sign over any of my rights when I chose this career. Guess I'll live in a gray Area

I bought a small digital lock box from SentrySafe that I thought was a safe until I opened it and it has a sticker:
Says the safe is not for guns, medicine, or explosives.
Medicine and guns go together for safe standards?
Okay I get having a bulletproof/explosive-proof enclosure for gums and ammo.
Does the COA ruling mean I need a 'real' safe to stash my 2.5 ounces to stay legal?
What kind of 'medicine' does the sticker and rules apply to?
I don't think it would have been weed - the federal government always maintains it's not medicine.
I kinda like the box and how I can lay 8 of those small 4.oz canning jars in there nice and snug with some padding I added.
But I don't want to be wasting my efforts if the 'lock box' safe isn't good enough.
Just looking at this thing inside and all - you can't beat it to death with a hammer - it's going to take some cutting tools to get inside.

Shit; I got a friend in Tennessee with a card and a concealed weapon permit from Michigan.
His MM card says he is homeless! Shit you not.
You can do a lot of things I suppose - what you get away with is all that counts in the end.
The feds have stated unequivocally that MM use and gun permits do not mix.
I'm not real confidant his permit protects him much if he gets into a jam.
But he is avid hunter who sometimes carries a sidearm when hunting up in the UP.
I'm pretty sure if you shoot someone that gun permit will be ruled invalid; so don't shoot anyone.
