G13 Labs Pineapple Express?

I've heard/read about this being a Trainwreck x Maui Wowie cross...
I'm not sure anyone really knows the lineage. Then again, I would figure the breeder knows. My guess is that it's a C99 that's been selected and backcrossed to get the pineapple pheno.

The fact is that the pic G13 Labs uses for their promotional materials isn't even really PE, it's Spanish Blaze. In fact, it's not even their pic. They ripped it from a forum user!

Normally I would say stay away from a strain like this, where the breeder is false advertising, however everyone seems to be super happy with the strain, so who am I to argue.

Haven't grown it myself however -- yet..

I completely agree. I was not interested in this strain until I saw the journals and all the positive feedback. I thought it was pretty shady to rip a name from a popular movie, but the results were good enough for me. Whether c99 is in the mix or not is questionable. You would think that it may be a parent based on the name, but it's probably more of a gimmick than a attribute of the plant. I'm growing c99 and I don't really see the resemblance, I even hit my PE with c99 pollen just because I felt that it needed to be crossed. Mine smells exactly like skittles, and someone else reported the same thing, maybe with a little tropical twist, but after drying their is a faint diesel and a kind of grapey aroma/flavor. I did not know the picture was stolen though. That's a drag. All these companies creating 1000s of beans, yet don't even have a single picture of the parents or even the offspring. Do they even test their seeds before they release them to the world? Still worthy of my recommendation though.

wow that is interesting..i feel like ive been schemed on haha...i would have definitely stayed away from g13 labs had i known they were jiving me with false info...

although (like you said) people really seem to love it...i honestly was just trying to get my legs with hydro (GH Waterfarm) and used a freebie which happened to be the pineapple express...the growth is very slow as of now, but that is just probably because i suck at hydro (for the moment) haha

that is such a crock a "reputable" seed co would even think of using info not proven/related to the actual beans they are selling. just seems crazy they would run the risk of some people finiding this out and g13 labs losing their "good name"

I picked up a couple of them a while back, and I plan on trying one out for my next grow. I still have to finish flowering my current grow though first. It will be a couple months before that time.

Ive long suspected this happens a lot. Ive seen pictures of a plant used for like 10 different strains on some websites. ... At least we have RIU to discuss the strains.

Yeah im of the opinion its more down to seedbanks ripping pics than breeders, although im sure some do it. The info given about PE from G13 is spot on tho, "Great Yield, Fast Flowering, Highly Resinous, Potent mentally and physically, Incredible taste". If you can get passed the name rip from the movie its worth a punt in my book.

Yeah the smell just gets better, she will really start to reek of fruityness by chop time. I let a mate have an oz a while back, hadnt seen him after that for a good few weeks. When i walked into his house i knew right away he was still toking on the PE hahaha, the air reeked of sweet fruit. The taste and smell is there after a few weeks or so of drying, fuck knows how good it will be after a cure so im gonna put a few oz aside and see. It didnt last long enough last time i chopped to find out.

I've heard/read about this being a Trainwreck x Maui Wowie cross...curious if anyone has grown this or has any advice on the strain? I'm hoping to keep a mom of my Pineapple Express if its a good yielder.
I'm 5 weeks into 12/12 on the G13 Pineapple Express, and it's a great plant. Of the 4 different strains I'm growing, it has the fattest buds, the earliest developing buds, the fruitiest smell, and it's starting to pack on the weight. Not too tall, able to handle her nutes, and just really a pleasure to grow. It actually smells like pineapple, which is just awesome. I'm expecting it to be done in 8 weeks max.

Here's a shot of my girl at 4 weeks of 12/12:
