I have been pondering this question for a while now. I want to have my grow room up and running by December and want everything to be as ready as possible. The average temps around here in winter are 54F-62F for the high and 33F-40F for the low. These temperatures will reflect on my grow room some what since it is going to be in an non-insulated garage. The grow room will in fact be insulated itself though. I'm still going back and forth between buying a 600w hps or 1000w hps because my brother runs a 1000w air-cooled in the summer and he has heat issues, but also in the summer it is 95F-110F out here for the high and 56F-70F for the low. I was wondering if I would benefit from the 1000w heat in the winter or if I would still need to air-cool it because my room is insulated. I am going to have a 4" passive intake and a 6" active exhaust. I was wondering if this would be good enough ventilation in conjunction with a 16" oscillating fan to keep temps more ideal with a 1000w. If not I was just going to get the 600w because I don't want to have alot of noise from an air-cooled hood mixed with an exhaust coming from the garage. Any and all answers would be much appreciated and good suggestions will get +rep. FF
