Believe me, if you're a Final Fantasy fan and haven't played 6, you NEED to get it. Download the ROM immediately!

No mights about it, GOOD SIR!

I expect a full plot summary, descriptions of every boss and their weakness, and your thoughts on the overall meaning of the plot. Please make said requests in a Word document, 30-50 pages, single-spaced.

You have two days.

2 day!?!?! how many discs? took me 3-4 months to beat 9 the first time lol
It's one cartridge (SNES game). And well, it took me about 60 hours to beat it my first time, and since you only have 48 hours... well...I guess you better get started!

Hmm, I would think it's the opposite of what you've just said actually. But I guess it depends on what games you're playing and how much time you spend each day playing.

Do you have vertical sync disabled on your graphics card (assuming you have a graphics card)?

At least for most PC games this is usually the first thing that people tell you to disable when getting low FPS. But I don't know how it would affect a game on an emulator. Worth a shot I guess?

lol no? this thread is about playing the old school ones rather than the new ones and it looks like hepheastus420 there is having a good time :p but really though those games had better story lines and what not. these new games are awesome because of the graphics and all that. i love the new games for their own reasons and the old ones for theirs. even with all the new games out that i love final fantasy 9 will always be my favorite. think its because at that time when playstation was top dog and they didnt have near life like imaging final fantasy was the first game i knew of that would have the awesome cut scenes of high res graphic video. it was like playing a game but watching a movie. and like i said i LOVED the story line.

Story is very important to me when it comes to most games. But I'm not quite sure I understand what you're saying. Are you saying games today don't have good stories as well? While old games certainly do have some fantastic story lines, I'm gonna have to make the argument that current games can and often do have far superior story lines. Take Mass Effect for example. I loved the shit out of this series, and it's because the story is so incredible and personal.

But don't get me wrong. I've been gaming my entire life. I love the old games, and I love the new games. The SNES will forever be my favorite system. I still have it plugged into my TV, and regularly get down on classics like Castlevania IV, Contra 3, Super Metroid, Mega Man X (1-3), and more. But, when I look at those games, I think: damn, the stories in those games sucked. It was the game-play that made me love them so much.

Now I'm definitely not saying retro games didn't have good stories. Because many of them did. You already mentioned FF 7,8,9. I'm gonna throw 4 and 6 in there as well. I'd also mention the old school Resident Evil games, and the original Metal Gear Solid as classic games with good stories.

Anyways, I don't even remember how the hell we got talking on this, lol, so I'll move on.

Anybody fans of the SNES games I've bolded in this post?

I guess it would work. I can't seem to find where I'm supposed to turn off vsync though. I heard I need to download ATI drivers for my windows 7.. Bah.

lol ya :p guess what i mean is those old final fantasy games had very good graphics and story lines that were way ahead of their time and in some ways on par with what we have today. of course most games have better graphics then back then but even no some dont have as good of graphics as some of those final fantasy cut scenes.

That's easy enough.

Just go to AMD's website, go to graphics card or whatever, select your model and operating system, and then download. This link will take you there:

http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

Then you can turn off V Sync in the Catalyst Center that should install with the driver.
