Clarification on sexing

I understand the concept of female preflowers but I am not entirely comfortable with identifying them yet. What I was hoping to learn is whether males will develop pollen sacks during veg. Once I see clusters of them coming in, then I am confident I am identifying correctly as it's hard to mistake those. Will vegging plants develop these clusters, or is it like females where it's only more pronounced during flowering?

I've looked through countless threads and pictures about preflowers and sexing during veg. Everytime I look it up, I feel like I know what I'm doing. Then I look at a live plant and the water is muddy once again lol. It's no big deal either way really. It's easy enough to check daily while flowering and catch them in plenty of time. But it would be nice to know without having to take cuttings, start the flower process, and waste time/resources waiting if I can learn to sex them properly in veg. It's almost embarrassing to be so confused about what should be such a simple task lol.

Thanks!

During veg, no. The only way to tell for sure, is after flowering has begun (males generaly flower earlier, and with a longer light period than females).

The sure way to tell a male, is the little balls are on little tiny stems.

Instead of taking a cutting, and growing it. You can start to flower, sex it, and then re-veg (lots of threads on the subject).

Have fun

I doubt that there's a way to sex during veg. Of all the grows I've done I've never been able to tell no matter what others say.

Females can show during veg, I have never seen a male show till light change. A female vegged for a long enough period will show or as said you can switch to 12/12 for a couple weeks, determine sex, then go back to veg with minimal stress to the plant.

Well I considered the switcherooni, but it's a little worrisome to me as the genetics are a crapshoot to begin with. Don't want any higher chances for herman munster than you already get with bagseed, and don't feel like investing in (nor taking the risk to acquire) particular strains without feeling good about the process first. Once there are a few successes, that will be a different story :-)

Go for a clone then, if you have a separate growing area. Or the tuff way by placing a paper bag over one branch allowing it to get only 12 hours of light for a couple weeks.

Hadn't considered that route...not a bad idea. That's crazy that just a single branch can go flower without the rest of the plant. May have to give that a shot...

Interesting, have you ever tried it and has anyone else out there ever tried it ?

I tried it once, and it worked. Bag has to be big enough to go on the branch without cause all kinds of rubbing/damage. A sandwich bag on a smaller branch is good.
