Obama's War On Medical Marijuana Just Got Even Uglier

That is irrelevant to the OP.

It isnt to me
How many of these "benevolent" Medical marijuana dispensary owners are rolling in millions?
How many have been busted shipping weed out of state?
What about large scale grows to supply these dispensarys?

Was that what they had in mind when they passed the initiative?

make it illegal to sell
But legal to posess

Honest? How about brutally honest- My spouse has Multiple Sclerosis...a debilitating disease for WHICH THERE IS NO CURE. She will be in a wheelchair before we know it, it's only matter of time. Her 'regular' meds (painful injections which cure or stop nothing) cost over $3000 dollars a MONTH. I have over 2 dozen screws in my body in horrible places- many of them over 3" long. For us, MMJ IS the best thing we can have. We don't smoke it or toke it, we have medibles and if needed for a fast dose, a high quality vaporizer. I have bottle after of bottle of narcotic opiates and other pain killers which DO NOTHING for my severe pain except make me a walking (sometimes) zombie. And we can grow MMJ OURSELVES for fairly cheap. THAT is why big pharma assholes (and others) want it to stay illegal...they KNOW it is a multi-purpose plant with tremendous benefits, medically and economically, just not to THEM.

Now tell us, (and be honest) YOU DIDN'T KNOW THIS ALREADY? Why would you even ask such a question unless you are completely ignorant to the facts? There are ALWAYS losers who will ruin it for the rest of us. Don't be so quick to punish those who really can benefit from this wonderful plant because some 20 year olds just want to get high.

And for everyone like your wife who finds comfort in the medical benefits in marijuana

There are 100 that have a card just to get baked and have no need of the weed for anything other than getting high
And there is nothing wrong with that

legal to posess
Illegal to sell

And you mentioned

But that is speculative. It's cold comfort for Mrs. MacGuyver.
MG420, I'd counsel stopping the injections. If they're that plastic stuff, i'd worry about the cure being worse than the disease. cn

Yeah, they give it to pretty much anyone now, this was discussed on another forums too. It's mostly the doctor's fault and I bet most if not all have their own card as well, it's actually hurting the prohibition which is why this happened.

Ron Paul is looking like a better choice now, eh?

Never

On Aug. 5, 2009, the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) announced its request for proposal (RFP) seeking someone to grow marijuana for government research and for the Compassionate Investigational New Drug (IND) program. Submission deadline is Oct. 9, 2009.

The one to five year contract requires the grower to produce a minimum of 125,000 marijuana cigarettes in four potencies from "placebo" (0% THC) to "high" (3.5-5% THC), plus 500-1,000 cigarettes at greater than 5% THC. NIDA has the option to request either 1.5 or 6.5 acres of marijuana per year under the contract.

The University of Mississippi has held the government contract to grow marijuana since 1968, and it is among the 15 applicants bidding for the 2009 contract (as of Sep. 28, 2009). The University of Mississippi grows and dries the marijuana, then sends it to the Research Triangle Institute where it is rolled into cigarettes and packaged in tins for the four remaining US government IND medical marijuana patients

Why can't people just get high?

If everyone can get high, MMJ users can get their medicine readily and much more cheaply.

Legalisation benefits patients...this is not said enough.

Never said that, it benefits real patients but I'm betting their's alot of people that just want the card just to have it.

Of course legalization would benefit everyone, that doesn't mean if this keeps happening it won't slow it down.

You don't understand me, I don't differenciate between people's reasoning behind why they smoke, my concerns are my own and so other peoples are their own.

MMJ is a horseshit way for dealers to rip off patients and have the protection of state law.

Free the plant for ALL adults and let them decide what their own reason for smoking is, or if they choose not to that's their choice too.

Btw, "real" is extremely subjective, your idea of a "real patient" may vary vastly from the next persons, so why try enforce your specific mindset on others? What if I tried to do a switcharoo and said only recreational smokers are allowed toke and patients have to use regular medicine?

A real patient to me is someone who is looking for something to help and with a legitimate problem, not someone who is making an excuse must to get a card, which is most people, the government isn't stupid.

Obama loves me this I know
For a Liberal Londonfog told me so
Minorities to him belong
Marijuana is weak, but pharmasuiticals are strong

Yes Obama loves me
Yes Obama loves me
Yes Obama loves me

But he hates my dope

You're still missing the point...

Why the fuck should people need a card to grow and use a plant? If it was legal it'd be $1 a gram at most...do patients benefit more from this or the current $15-25 a gram?

Sorry to break another myth for you, but the MMJ people need the legalisation people in their corner, not the other way around.

I'm not missing any point, I agree legalization should happen, that's not the point here. The reason why the government did this was because of the rules of the medical reasons, these "doctors" are giving the card to anyone. I support full legalization, not people abusing the system, it just slows prohibition down.

Well then your time is wasted trying to fix a system that was fundamentally flawed from the beginning.

MMJ reform detracts from legalisation which should be the movement's one focus, especially considering legalisation would benefit patients more than ANY MMJ system reforms.

As for Harbourside, they painted a big fucking bullseye on themselves with Weed Wars and publicly stating a turnover of $23 mill a year. Being principled sometimes goes hand in hand with fucking oneself in the ass.

so, the war on medical marijuana, which was started years and years ago, is "obama's war on MMJ", but the reduced tax rates, which were started years and years ago, are still called "the bush tax cuts"?

people are funny.
