You are right, I stand corrected. But, up until 1995 they had the most liberal gun laws on the planet, which obviously made them safer....not.South Africa is not a 3rd world country.
UB, what is your position on the propriety of civil gun ownership and carry? cnsince this thread was started, 6 people have died due to gun violence.
South Africa has its own very distinctive social issues. Its "lessons" cannot be applied elsewhere. cnYou are right, I stand corrected. But, up until 1995 they had the most liberal gun laws on the planet, which obviously made them safer....not.
We are up there tho but if you count the bombings and what not, we're not alone when it comes to violence. You are right, I stand corrected. But, up until 1995 they had the most liberal gun laws on the planet, which obviously made them safer....not.
Only in America do guns leap into action and kill people on their own. What a great country!since this thread was started, 6 people have died due to gun violence.
We have a more elegant modality available than the loud vest. cnWe are up there tho but if you count the bombings and what not, we're not alone when it comes to violence.
i wish people weren't such violent retards, but until we change the second amendment, this dude abides.UB, what is your position on the propriety of civil gun ownership and carry? cn
only in america do we let mentally retarded people like you own firearms.Only in America do guns leap into action and kill people on their own. What a great country!

i wish it would be a million times tougher to get a gun and for anyone caught carrying without a license to face serious, serious penalties.
i also wish common sense gun laws weren't so taboo. if we renewed the brady bill back in 2004, the gabby giffords massacre would have been cut in half as far as damage goes.
That still doesn't mean we have psychopaths. You are right that we should have less killings and robberies because we have a higher quality of life here. Can't control people's emotions. To UB, the guy who did the killings was often someone with no criminal history so how much more strict can we get? I mean we could set a lie detector but that would only go so far since some people just snap. I do agree that if we do get a stricter system then we could pin point people with obvious bad intentions. We have a more elegant modality available than the loud vest. cn
Imo that is the dream but never the reality. Society cannot fully protect the citizen at this time. What would you say would be the proper way to regard those with not-obvious bad intentions? They are imo the target of greatest interest because they are both dangerous and awesomely stealthy until they, to use a euphemism, "generate a datum". cnThat still doesn't mean we [do not] have psychopaths. I dunno man, make a stun gun that could be fired long range without the cords and take away all guns lol, my only solution I can come up with.Imo that is the dream but never the reality. This is true, he did have boobie traps set all over his apartment, and a bomb could have been way worse.I only have one point to make. His mother immediately coming out and saying "yes you have the right person" is a huge indicator. This guys was gonna snap and kill a lot of people regardless, if not with guns then homemade explosives or what have you. Now I don't like to get into politics much, but I don't think that if it been harder for this guy to get a gun that he wouldn't have killed anyone. That's a stretch and a jump I'm not willin to make. That's why when I see people making it about all this political hoopla I get very sad. Our thoughts should be with the family's that are grieving, not about the politicos. That's all I have to say.
Carry on.
If the US makes owning a gun against the law, I'll bet the murderers will think twice before breaking that law!No, its not an American thing at all......
I think that a basic tenet of an open society is that the citizen should have full access to what the police get. If the police are stripped of all guns, I'll play. Britain and Japan play by those rules. But I need it sealed in ironclad law that the police don't get special privilege. cnI dunno man, make a stun gun that could be fired long range without the cords and take away all guns lol, my only solution I can come up with.
